Just wondering if anyone knows the sizes of the high and low pressure service port valve cores for the A/C. I seem to have a leak at at least the high side and need to get a new valve. I've checked the rest of the system with an electronic leak detector and didn't find anything leaking other than these valves. Thanks.

The ports that one services the A/C both have schrader valves in them, but the high side looks larger than the low.
k thats what i figured you were talking about, im not so sure you can replace just the valves, if they are leaking from the ports then you will prolly have to get all new hvac lines.

i dont even know how a guy could possibly replace those?

I've attached a link to a set of tools that allows you to change the valve cores without releasing the pressure from the system. I also have a buddy that does A/C work and he said that i just need to change out the cores.

If you're detecting a leak for just a split second after removing the plastic cap, that's normal. If your electronic sniffer continues to detect refrigerant after the cap has been removed for a few seconds, then you may be on to something. There is actually a design specification for the normal leakage for the schrader valves.

I know the leak is pretty bad. I charged up the system and within 24 hours it had leaked down so that the compressor wouldn't cycle. I took off the service port cap and saw some bubbles around the valve. Then I got my friend to use the sniffer and he went over every line in the a/c system and nothing else triggered a response except for the valve area.

:noworries: Hey no worries man, maybe I didn't explain it well. As far as the AC machine goes, well no I don't have one here. But in Congo, Africa I don't think something like that even exists. The ac guys just work along side of the road and really don't recover the charges. :crikey: Also, most cars here have leaky ac's anyways. My buddy is going to try and use a empty R134a bottle and vacuum it out to make a recovery tank, but that's a good as it gets.
