I purchased an ATC truck cap from a wrecking yard (RIP the beautiful 2017 pro4x I pulled it off of).

It has a prewired 4-pin spade connector to run the tail light and the dome light.

My truck has the 7-pin factory trailer light connector, but no 4 pin connector (which is usually the case).

Right now I have it red-neck retrofitted like so:

4-pin spade extension running from the truck cap to a 4-pin spade adapter that I plugged into my 7-pin connection. It works, but looks really........lame.

ALL that to say, is there some sort of trailer light receiver that I can replace the current 7-pin-only one with that has a combination 7-pin/4-pin?

I would REALLY like to avoid cutting into the harness if at all possible (electrical ain't really my strong suit).

Thanks in advance!

You can get a 7-pin to 4-pin adapter, like from Etrailer.com, or just ask them what they advise.

I installed a second trailer connector on Mrs. Cusser's 2005 Yukon so now she can simply plug in either 7-pin or 4-pin trailers. But that's a GM which has shared brake/turn signal bulb so that doesn't need a converter like vehicles with separate brake and turn signal bulbs do.

You and I are on the same page, that is my current setup right now.

However, I would like to be able to have my truck cap plugged into the 4-pin spade plus have a free 7-pin trailer light plug as well. Most of the trailers we have on the farm use the 7-pin connection and its pretty annoying having to unplug the adapter every time I hook up to a trailer.

On the GM, I just stripped off some insulation from the appropriate wires and soldered on new wires for the 4-pin socket. The two sockets are side by side on the rear bumper.
