This years trip will in fact be the 6th annual but that 1st year was just myself and James, who is no longer on CF.

OK folks, who is interested in doing this?

Last year, we ended up doing 2 trips because the turnout for the early trip was so abysmal.... just Wolfman and I showed up. The fall trip was looking good.... until I had my accident.

We could try and do this in late april/early may or wait until october. Remember that june - september is very hot and uncomfortable in Hollister.

The Peligreen Jeepway run is April 16th and 17th. Gone Moab is May 22-27. Went Windrock in Tennessee is Sept 13 - 18 and a couple regulars are headed out for that as well.

Here are some possible dates:
April 29th - May 1st
May 6th - 8th (Jen's Bday w/e)
June 10th - 12th (pushing it heat wise....)
Wait until October

Chime in if you are interested.

Thanks for your replies. I'm hoping for some input from those of you who have expressed interest in coming to this for the 1st time.

I am trying to plan this around several Upper Ranch FULL CLOSURES and the schedules of as many people as possible that are planning to come and CAMP. Day trippers are going to have to accept that campers input will take priority. Please let me know if you will be camping or just coming for the day.

Come on folks, speak up!

Bring the dog or hubby for a change! But we still love your folks anyway.

The pictures I post might suggest otherwise, but my dogs aren't great companions for wheeling trips. When they go with me on my solo trips close to home, we stop and get out a lot and we avoid trails that are too rough or rocky.

Actually I could retype almost that exact paragraph about my husband too.

Bump

Looking for input from anyone interested. I would prefer to keep this tradition going but if I'm the only participant, what's the point?

My new name is Chopped Liver. ;)

This is a little disappointing seeing as how we had such good turnout the first few years. Might need to just pick a date and see who signs up?
How about CL for short! Ha,Ha!

Technically, no one has said they would be camping (in this thread anyway....) but I apologize for making you feel that way. You have a good point about just picking a date a running with it, rather than try to satisfy the majority.....

Assuming this is a go, I'll be camping. I would arrive Friday evening and stay until Sunday afternoon.

Not sure what state I will be living in when this happens. I will be down for the Saturday if I am still in CA, but a bit far for holister if I am in Vegas when it happens.

Thanks for your reply Wolfman. I am going to give folks a few more days to chime in, as it has only been 5 days since this thread was posted.

As of right now, I am leaning towards 4/29 - 5/1 to avoid Mothers Day and the heat of summer. That would give folks 2 months to get ready.

I took it upon myself to nag a few people about the trip in general, as well as the weekend of 4/29-5/1 specifically since that's the way you're leaning.

No firm commitments from anyone but...
Jr is a weak "maybe" not knowing whether his rig will be finished. I know he'd like to do a shakedown run before Moab, so if he has a rig by the end of April he will become a strong "maybe."
John is a strong "maybe." He had a possible conflict that weekend but I think Hollister would win out.
Rob from our Bald Mountain trip is a strong "maybe."

^All of those guys have typically been campers rather than day trippers.

Token Taco is a weak "maybe" for a day trip. My mom has the same fears about breaking her rig right before Moab that I do. :)
