i dnt think the frontier could support a goose neck, thats alotta wieght for this lil truck, i only see 5th wheels in diesels

 

We sold our Frontier because it felt like it was really straining while pulling our Travel Trailer. I upgraded to a full sized GMC with a tow capacity of 7700 lbs (The fronty was 6800 lbs). We have since upgraded our trailer and were seriously looking at 5th wheels when we were shopping around. We could ot find one that I felt could comfortably be towed by our GMC, so I seriously doubt there are many that could be towed by a Frontier. Granted, there are some ultra-light 5ers out there, but how comfortable would you be in it? Especially if you have a family! I would look at Travel Trailers over a fifth wheels. As an example, my truck is rated to tow 7700 lbs, but only rated at 6800 lbs with a 5th wheel or goose neck trailer. It has to do with the weight over the rear axle, not so much the power of the truck!

The UK version is rated at 3 tons towing, 1 ton payload. (whatever that is in sacks of potatoes or whatever you guys use for measurement these days )

and its diesel.

 

your talking metric tonnes or tons? (Im confused where you are US or UK). I have seen 1st gen 5th wheel setups towing horses in the UK before, since they don't have trucks much bigger.....

tons are imperial 2240lbs (1016kg) - tonnes are 1000kg (2205Lbs)

I'm sure that the Frontier could handle a gooseneck hitch. We had a 92 Dodge Dakota Club Cab 4x4 w/the V6 and 5 speed manual and we pulled a lot more than you could ever expect with it.. and the Frontiers now are a lot more truck than that Dakota ever was! Sure you'd have to pull smaller loads than with a full-size, but I think its definately do-able.

 

My neighbor had a Toyoda 4 banger with a small fith wheel for years. There has to be hitches that will work out there.

 

Goosenecks don't even need hitches.. you just reinforce the area and put a ball through the frame and cut a hole in the bed. I don't see a problem with it at all.

I installed a Reese 15K sliding 5th wheel hitch on my 03 CC long bed. It uses the same rails as a gooseneck.

They had to weld the rear brackets to the frame because they could not get their drill in the space behind the fender but it was no problem.
