Hey everyone. Recently my mechanic son and I were talking about the tuners out there since I am planning to get one. He asked the question about what the long term effects of tunes might be. This is something that got me thinking and I am going to throw the question out to all of you. Has anyone used a tuner long enough to experience any negative effects on your vehicle and, if so, what might they be? Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike

well. if its tuned..you may drive faster? but honestly anytime you change it from absolute stock that could risk the way Nissan says it will run and last...but i so go for it and use your truck!

My question is, as I research the tuners, all say "Not legal for sale or use in California "

Since there are still a lot of people who dont have their locations posted...I was wondering if any here in California and if there have been any issues?

I've had a custom tuned chip in my cobra for 5+ years with no ill effects (directly related to the tune, at least :D )

anytime you start pushin more air/fuel in and more exhaust out of a vehicle no matter what it is ur gonna expierience more wear on the truck as a whole but w/ just basic stuff like CAI, exhaust, tuner were talkin ur truck will last like 150k miles instead of 155k so yes over the lifetime of a vehicle it could possibly cause more wear but itll b such a small differenc that chances are you'll never notice

Thanks guys. Just throwing this out there for all the gearheads. I haven't worked on a vehicle in years other than the basic things and was wondering how others felt about this (non) issue. My assumption was that an engine is an engine but, with all the electronics nowadays and their close tolerances, I have been hesitant to alter too much. I keep my vehicles a LONG TIME and want them to run well. That peace of mind is a great thing!!

No problems with any of my "tuned" vehicles; CA. smog w/OBD2 connections sometimes don't not pass.

Exactly, Negligible. I trade up every 2 - 4 years.
