I love my truck...

2009 XE with 9700-miles. I chose to up grade the tires to 245/75R-16's and purchased Nissan alloy rims, Nissan front and back mud flaps, a tonneau cover, Nissan step rails, and a Pioneer head unit. In some ways I feel like I should have purchased these items when I got the truck. However, I really like adding to the truck and making it more "personal". The only drawback has been some rock chips just above the bug shield on the front of the hood. I was definitely not happy to find those. Otherwise, I'm very happy with my Nissan and can't see purchasing any other truck. :fantastic:

I'm just so sorry it took so long to find out what a great truck a Frontier is.

i own a 2013 4 cylinder with 5 speed manual. Still only 50k miles, she purrs like a kitten and drives smoothly, buttery shifts and all. 97% of the time I shift at 2500-3500 RPMs, the other times that I may shift a little later is when towing a bit and getting onto faster roads (60MPH+), then back to my typical shifts. I haul (in bed) periodically (so far no more than 1k pounds in the bed). I change my oil twice a year, early Fall and Spring, air and cabin filters every other oil change. Soon I will change the rear-end, brake, and transmission fluid, and the coolant. Replaced the battery a few times.

I've been real fortunate so far and have not had any mechanical issues, I've just done the maintenance. I realize and I'm prepared for mechanical replacements eventually. But I have been very content with the truck and it's been great for my regular usage.

08 2.5 auto 405.000 kms. Rebuilt motor my self about 30.000 kms ago .. main and rod bearings , rings , timing kit , gaskets and seals . The only issue is no cost effective balance shaft assembly for this motor. Nissan wanted hundreds for it and cannot delete because in the truck version of the qr engine the oil pump is integral to balance shaft. Ended up getting used balance shaft assembly and crankshaft from engine with top end issues. Total cost of all parts new and used maybe 450.00. running nice now.

Don't personally own one, but I'll give my observations on my neighbor's 2006 with 95,000 miles:

TPMS sensor was first thing to go.
Crankshaft sensor was next (stranded in town)..
Fuel level stopped registering correctly.
Trans shift linkage broke (stranded out of town).
Heat stopped working.
CD player stopped working.
Paint (Silver) still looks good from afar, but developed serious rust issues @ about 5 years old on top of the front fenders under the hood, roof rain channels are horrendous.
Door handles are at least a double-pull to open.
"Rides like a cane truck!" (his quote). If you know, you know.
Fuel filler door wouldn't stay closed due to clamp popping outta place (YouTube zip-tie trick worked!).
Find random bolts from it on ground underneath that neither of us can figure out where they've come out of.
Truck has turned into a money-pit within the last month ($6,300 in repairs).
Dealer replaced trans one week, then # 2 coil pack the next.
Currently dealing with SES lights, misfires, and loud roaring from front pass. side that settles down around 45 mph and picks back up around 55 mph.

I have own a ‘06 XE since 2013. Changed plugs, serpentine belt, and intake gaskets around 85,000.
Had to put a crankshaft sensor in around 108,000. Today I drove to my uncle’s house (less than a quarter a mile away) about a 2 hours later went to leave and the shifter ( automatic ) would move easily but the truck remained in park. So we’ll see wha’s up now. I mean with now 114,000+ I can’t really complain. My uncle, yep same one, bought a hardbody new In 1986. The sales manager actually talked him OUT of buying an extended warranty. He went on to put 200,000 on it then gave it to his youngest son ( RIP ) who turned it into a lowrider and put another 200,000 on it. He raised back to stock and gave it back. My uncle then drove it for years after that but the odometer quit working after 430,000 . Unc then sold it to a friend of mine because it needed a fuel pump. He never fixed it. It is still to this day sitting behind his house that was in 2007.

'06 with 255k. At around 200k replaced the crankshaft position sensor. At around 220k replaced the camshaft position sensor. Around 225k, replaced the coil packs. At around 230k replaced the fan clutch. 4 cyl and 5 speed manual. My son bought it new and I bought it from him with about 125k. Overall, been a great truck. Still my daily driver.

I have a 2013 King Cab 2.5L MT with 75,300+ on it. Bought it almost 2.5 years ago and have put about 14,000 on it. Starts good. Runs well. It is my daily driver, and I don't haul much but new boards for back yard fence rebuild, 40-pound sacks of water softener salt and stuff like that. Run bed-empty 90% of the time. Put 300 lbs. of concrete blocks in the bed for traction when it snows. Gets 20.44 mpg overall since I have owned it. Normal driving is shifting between 2,000 and 3,000 rpms or less but often running it up to 6,000 rpm when I feel the need. No power shifting or burning rubber for me anymore. Finally outgrew it at age 65. HA! I change the oil and filter every 3,000 miles or 9 months, whichever comes first, and run Nissan synthetic oil in it. Has never used oil between changes. HVAC system is excellent as is the stock radio/CD player. Only repair since I bought it has been the rear transmission mount replacement. Otherwise, just maintenance stuff like oil and filter, fan belt, rotating tires and changing transmission and differential fluids. Probably need to change the brake fluid and maybe the power steering fluid. After a lifetime of V8s, I have made the change to smaller and less expensive, and I like it OK, thus far. This is a good dependable little truck. But the engine air intake system is truly hideous. What a FUBAR arrangement.
