Fits 05-10 Frontiers/Xterras (6 on 4.5) spacers are 1" thick.

Are the 1" thick spacers/adapters thick enough to clear the lugs or do the rims have extra space machined behind them to make up for it?

The stock lugs on the truck are just over 1" long so most spacer/adapter requirements are a minimum of 1.25" to ensure the wheel will sit flat against the adapter when intalled. If it is only 1" thick, you run a risk of the wheel impacting the OEM lugs and thus, not sitting flush. Now, if they took then into consideration when building the wheels, they may have machined out a little more on the backside but without the wheels infront of me, I can't tell you for sure.
