Hi all. I've done an extensive search for this information but can't seem to find anything. My hinges bent as usual but the bolts were so rusted and seized I had to plasma cut them off with the inside brackets attached (the brackets behind tail light). Now I can't find replacement brackets or bolts (or their sizes). Dealer wanted to sell me the entire kit which includes bolts but I had already bought the replacement hinges for much cheaper elsewhere. Now I'm stuck on what to do. Can anyone shed any light? Thanks!

You can find Grade 8 bolts at Lowe's in various sizes. Just bring along one to compare. If the thread pattern doesn't match, you can easily tap the holes with a matching thread. I've done it a number of times to switch from Nissan's metric standards to SAE (inches) when I've been in a bind.

If the dealer can't get the bolts separately try your local Fastenal or Ababa bolt. If they don't have them in stock they can order them. McFadden-Dale is also a great source for in stock fasteners if there is one near you.

Unfortunately the rear brackets that held the nuts were also trashed so I need the backside as well. Do you think I need those brackets or should I be fine just using a basic Nut & Bolt setup straight to the body? I suppose I could fabricate something just figured it'd be easier to buy.

I think a flat washer, lock washer, nut would work fine but if you wanted a bit more support you can get flat strap stock in various sizes at Home Depot and Lowe's and cut and drill your own and then just put lock washers and nuts on top of it.

Anybody who works on anything using nuts and bolts should own a set of thread gauges and/or a micrometer, caliper. A combination metric, sae set of gauges are around 10 bucks. You don't need a high quality caliper either.
Sorry, can't get outside to measure them or I would.

I do not know for sure, but a lot of Nissan stuff is M12 threaded. Kind of a PITA to find off-the-shelf somewhere. If you're going to drill and tap your own holes, just get Grade 8 stuff from Lowe's.

Fixed

Ended up getting Class 10 M12 1.75 inch bolts from Home Depot then throwing a washer on one side and flat strap cut to length on the back with nuts. Works perfectly, thanks for the help guys!

I'VE GOT THE SAM ISSUE, BUT FIRST IF YOU FIND THE BOLT A REGULAR BLACK OXIDE CASE HARDENED BOLT WILL DO JUST FINE, YOU DO NOT NEED A GRADE 8. 2ND THE BOLT IS A M10 X 1.25 X 20MM - TORX 50. I'M A RETIRED TOOL MAKER AND I KNOW BOLTS, THE BIG 3 MC MASTER CARR, MSC INDUSTRIAL DIRECT DO NOT CARRY THIS BOLT. MINE ARE FULLY COVERED WITH THREAD LOCKER. GOT THE TOP OUT AND THE BOTTOM THE TORX 50 HEAD STRIPED OUT HAD CUT AN ALLEN WRENCH AND WELD IT TO IT TO GET IT OUT. FASTENAL HAS THIS BOLT M10 X 1.25 X 20MM FLAT HEAD SOCKET CAP (MEANING A ALLEN WRENCH). i HAVE TRIED TO ORDER THEM FROM THEIR WEBSITE BUY BECAUSE I'M NOT A CERTAIN TYPE MEMBER i CANNOT ORDER THEM, WENT TO FASTENAL YESTERDAY AND THERE STORES ARE CLOSED DUE TO COVID. FOR
kigol WHO CUT YOUR BOLTS, WHAT NISSAN HAS, IS A FLOATING PLATE WITH TWO TAPPED HOLES, SO IF YOU HAVE LOST THIS PLATE CHANGE IT TO A M10 X 1.5 X 20 AND PUT NUTS ON IT AND OR MAKE YOU A NEW PLATE, THE M10 X1.5 IS A MUCH MORE COMMON THREAD. I'M GOING TO CALL FASTENAL TODAY I'D RATHER PUT A HEX HEAD BACK, BUT IF I CANNOT GET ANYWHERE WITH FASTENAL, I'M GOING O CARRY MY RACKET AND T50 SOCKET AND WALK AROUND A JUNK YARD AND TAKE THESE BOLTS OUT TILL I GET 2 GOOD ONES. IF I KNEW THESE DAMN THINGS WERE LOCTITED IN I WOULD HAVE HEATED THE BOLTS BEFORE TRYING TO TAKE THEM OUT
