Am I lucky or what? After hearing about poor gas mileage even after some of you have installed coldair kits, catback exhaust, and other mods, on my first road trip I got 21.1 at one point. Mileage ranged between 17-21. The engine is still stock only thing I did was air up the tires to 40 psi. Drove between 60 and 80 with cruise on. Heard the Nismo gets the worst mileage and I only have a total of 400 miles. Wondering how accurate the trip computer is? Next time I'll zero the odometer and double check it.

Here's proof.

Not to burst your bubble, but on a road trip averaging in between 65mph-75mph I get any where from 20-24mpg with my stock 05 NISMO KC. I drive in traffic most of the time so my numbers are usually much lower - around 16-17mpg. But I dont think low 20's in gas milage for these trucks is impossible!! (on the highway anyway)

When I go to my dealer for service it's a 135 mile trip. Always average between 20.5 and 21.5.

Great to hear the 20s are possible. I just hadn't heard anyone saying they were getting anywhere near there, I was expecting 15-17. After what I've heard and read I never expected to get the upper mileage listed on the sticker. Maybe I missed something, I'm still a newby here. No biggy but my bubble is busted alittle! Still proud of my truck...maybe I can get that 24 or even 25.

Thanks for the comments.

good for you guys. I drive my fronty on the streets only, averaging 30-40 mph everyday. Back and fourth to work is only 5 miles. I average about 14.5mpg. Just to be sure Im thinking about doing the actual math on my fronty, reset the Odometer Trip A then divide the TOTAL GALLONS LOADED (Full Tank) to TOTAL MILES DISTANCE when it reach empty.

Well on my trucks first tank of gas last week I was getting about 20 on the freeway but it dropped down to 17.5 with city driving. I thought it was odd that when I filled and reset I averaged 16.5 after a day of city driving (about 15 miles) and it didn't go up at all during a 75 mile jaunt on the freeway at 70mph w/ cruise on...

I just did the manual calc and compared it to the computer, manual calc was only .1 mpg less, pretty good I think.

Thanks bluegrass, glad to hear the trip computer is accurate. I have another trip tomorrow and going to check it against my odometer too. I'm hoping for 22+, maybe I'll coast down some of those hills.

Yeah, you guys are doing good. I have averaged 16.5 MPG since buying the car with a worst mileage of 15.2 the first tank. 2000 miles on the odometer, finally went on a mostly highway trip and got 18.2 MPG. That is my best yet.

Need to change the Post to 23+ MPG

Took my second road trip yesterday. Have to admit my mileage was mostly around 20 but when I was on a road with a 60 MPH speed limit and reset the computer I got 23.7 MPG. Also compared my speedometer to my GPS and found my speedo is shy 2 MPH which means I'm getting about 2-3% better mileage than the trip computer is reading. Not sure why some of us are getting 20s with other getting teens? I know I was trying to get the best mileage I could and drove like an old lady (sorry ladies).

i get in between 13 and 15 on my short as hell up and down hill trips... but the moment i get out on the highway, i have no problem getting over 20 - infact, i set the cruise for one trip already and it was about 150 miles, reset it once on the highway an it was almost up to 28 at the end... now obviously that doesnt include any acceleration or what not, but it's possible... i avged about 18.5 by the end of that tank

28 mpg...you can't beat that scuba. I did get 25 once going down a long hill. One of my buddy owns a Titan, told me he's lucky to get 12s and he uses premium. Boy was he pissed when he found out how good the Frontier's do. I'm sure glad I made the right decision.

I don't think these mid 20's figures are very realistic though. Especially around here where there's not a whole lot of flat stretches even on the freeway. I mean, I've gotten the computer in the suburban to read out 50+mpg and it's silly to think that is a real world figure.

They may not be in most cases. I'm sure it depends on the quality of gas, tires, your mileage, how you drive, road conditions, mods, and I'm sure there's other things. My figures were after resetting the trip computer and driving for about 50-100 miles, mostly flat and with cruise on. My last trip my average was always over 20. I was just so surprised because even my dealership guys told me to expect gas mileage to be worse on the Nismo than the SE/LE due to gearing. I did wax it, maybe that helped!

At least it's given us something to talk about. Thanks guys.

I have a Nismo 4X2 CC. Gas mileage has slowly risen from initial 16 mpg up to 20-21 mpg now. I drive about 350-400 miles per week. It's a mix of hwy (35-70 mph) and streets (35-45 mph). Only modification is I changed the O/R tires to a regular LT profile tire (Hankook Dynapro) with OEM size. If I don't accellerate hard I can keep the mpg up above 19+ with no problem. Heavy accelleration and it drops back into the 18 mpg range. I have, for extended freeway stints seen in the 21-24 mpg range.

I have a Volant Intake and PowerAid spacer coming so it will be interesting to see their effect on mpg. Planning on taking a long hwy trip in few weeks too, so that will be a good chance to see what it can do on extended hwy driving.
