I believe that setting resides in your phone setting with regards to Andriod auto/apple auto etc.

 

The front port is connected to the head unit. Android Auto isn't wireless, it has to be connected for the head unit to recognize it. The rear ports only charge because they're not connected to the head unit. You can go to your phone settings and not allow it to connect to the head unit.

 

Both front USB ports are referred to as 'auxiliary input jacks' and appear in all iterations of the radio diagrams for your year...so I doubt they can be used separately as just a charger without the radio acknowledging and trying to get involved. Get a cigarette lighter to USB adapter, for the front. I have this one, it sits flush in the power port so the lid will still close if I want:

I use that adapter to connect my magsafe phone charger (Z1 phone mount w/charger head).


True, the backseat ports are just for charging. No connection to the infotainment.

Couldn't find the settings on my Android. I looked there first. The tech is getting out of control anymore. In my opinion at least.

 

Look into enabling "developer options" on your Android phone and then changing the default USB mode. You can change it such that it only ever charges via USB, no data connection. Otherwise, there's probably a setting in Android Auto/Google apps somewhere.

 

Also don't want bluetooth to turn on either

I believe they sell cables (possibly even adapters for the cable) that only allow charging. They market them for travel for when plugging in to public charges, etc.

 

They do make "power only"cables. If you don't want to carry around a neutered special cable, you can also get a usb "data blocker" dongle.
