lie o meter or not, we have something and if you know it is consistently 2 miles off then at least you have an easy visual of what you are getting. Could it be better sure. But then most of our feet could probably be lighter too, right?
I use the Instant mileage display, but not so much for the number. I treat it like a vacuum gauge and try to keep it maxed (when I care to).

"Current" is not an average. The average is still off, but closer.
This is true. I should have snapped a pic of my "average MPG" per the Fib-o-meter. It says my average MPG is 23.5 with the conditions I stated above. The average is much closer to my real world than what the "ECO drive report" lists, as it should be I suppose.

Either way, I'm not complaining. ~21mpg tank to tank is about as good as it gets for any truck. Even the new Chevy Siverado 2.7L 4cyl turbo doesn't really do better than that.

Is it elitist to LMAO at the folks who won't do the math? :geek:
Regardless, we must add gas to go...so in the grand scheme of things it really isn't too terribly important.
BUT, if one is sharing this lie-o-meter intel w/ others (like a prospective buyer), then they may be doing 'them' a disservice. And who would we blame? I'll blame Nissan for installing an inaccurate gauge/method/algorithm. It's BS. :poop:

I've probably owned a dozen vehicles at this point with some digital readout on computer generated MPG figures. I've never owned one so far off as my 2022 Frontier is. It's literally ~23% off from my ~17-18 gal fillup to fillup hand calcs. I go to the same gas station, same pump. I get ~360 miles out of ~17gal of gas.

MPG calculation, even by hand, is only so accurate due to factors outside of one's control. But, analyzing 10 tanks' worth will arrive at values that are more statistically significant.

I've got a buddy I've known for 40+ years w/ a Kia SUV that refuses to verify whether his dash MPG reading is accurate. To each his own.

Sounds like he doesn’t really wanna know, LOL! Afraid of what he might find.

I knew the Frontier gas mileage would be worse than what I’ve been used to by driving 4 cyl SUVs for the last 3 years, but it will still take some getting used to. I’m already feeling it. Only had the truck 3 weeks and I’ve been to the gas station 4 times, LOL! Granted, I wasn’t empty anytime I went. Just didn’t want it to go below 1/4 tank.

How come these inaccurate dash calculators never read LESS than what the actual mpg is!!, looks like its designed to intentionally display a higher mileage by nissan to promote word of mouth positive feedback to help sales figures.

I just filled up again today, and it had the same ~2.5mpg difference. Truck said 19.9, calculated to 17.43.
I observed something similar last week. I used about 3/4 tank before filling. Also tracked miles during use, and it was a lot of short trips around town, and moving the truck around on the property at work. The fuel economy display showed around 17.x MPG but I calculated something in the 15 range (don’t remember the exact figures). I’m currently tracking it again now and trying to be more fuel efficient to see where I land this time around.

This made me laugh a little so I’ll throw it up here, accurate or not, though I suspect it is. I drove about 1/2 mile almost all uphill to the dollar store for a gallon of milk. I remote started the truck before leaving and it sat and idled a couple of minutes before I got in it. I got a whopping 7.5 mpg on the way to the store. Got 17.4 mpg on the way back. I told my wife that trip costed me close to a quart of fuel for a gallon of milk. Not really, but it was funnier saying it like that. LOL!

I reset the truck's MPG display with every tank. The first tank I tracked the truck said 22.1mpg, and it calculated out to 19.62mpg. The second tank I tracked the truck said 20.6mpg and it calculated out to 18.14mpg.
Yours tracks very similar to my 2022 CC LWB 4X2 SV. I consistently get 18 - 20 mpg and the dash indicator reads 2 mpg higher than hand calculated.

Compiled some recent travel mpg that seems relevant here since for a few stops I noted the display info.

The display is easily skewed and is also seems calculated over enough time that crossover data is a thing. It's also as though the update speed is delayed... if you have a sudden change (city vs hwy vs parking lot etc) it takes a while to catch up. I get dead on matches now and then.. yay? lol.

If I had reset each time maybe it would be closer. Or not. No point. The number need not be accurate and I don't refer to it. Road trips though allow for such entertainment.

Statistically insignificant, but fun w/ numbers:
49.5 gal & 1079 miles = 21.8 MPG
Avg of dash gauge readings = 25.45 -> this stat is completely insignificant, but worth weighing.
IOW, the dash is claiming an über-generous 3.5 MPG over the hand calculated value(s)...even though it was near correct on one of those tanks.
