I'm averaging 17 in city driving (LOTS of short trips). But got as high as 23 when on open roads for a good deal of time.

But/and the dash readout tells an even bigger lie in the Gen 3s for those who'd choose to believe it.
Owners just need to DO THE MATH over 10 tanks for some practical truth. Jethro Bodine calls it ciphering!!
No doubt on this.

My 2022 Frontier is mainly used for my 80 mile round trip work commute, which is a route that allows you to pretty much maximize fuel economy in any vehicle. Full tank after full tank, my truck tells me I'm getting ~24.6 mpg average. Sometimes it's 26mpg in warm/hot weather. When I calculate it by hand, it's 21-22mpg. I'm very happy with that and didn't expect more.

For reference, my 2017 Ram 1500 quad cab 4x4 with pentastar 3.6L also got 21-22.

My 2019 Ram 1500 classic crew cab, 4x4 w/ hemi got 20 with my use.

It's amazing that an old school pushrod 2-valve, port injected V8 gets about the same as a high tech direct injected V6 w/ all sortrs of fuel saving electronics.

I know right 😁 ?
I would assume weight plays a big part? I know the Ram's use lots of aluminum panels, and I do believe the Frontier is still steel? So that kinda sorta balances out 🤷‍♂️
But this also is one of the reasons I chose this truck...old school build 😉

I'd bet there's a measurable difference in mpgs between the 2wd KC SWB and a 4x4 CC LWB.
I'm sure at least a couple MPG difference, but not really not THAT much difference.

Nissan's online data for 'all around fuel economy' (not just hwy) comes in around 1 mpg difference between 4x2 vs 4x4.

I will never understand people who buy a pickup truck and complain about poor fuel efficiency.

You want fuel efficient? Buy a motorcycle or a compact car.
Agree...my other ride is a Harley....gets 45 MPG....the original hybrid :ROFLMAO:

Frontiers are heavy little buggers. IIRC, 2019 Ram 1500 classic weighed about 500 lbs more. The only thing aluminum on the ram was the hood. I believe the hood is aluminum on 2022 Frontiers as well.

Yep, my other ride is a Kawasaki Versys 650, gets about 45 mpg on the highway, 60 mpg on slower backroads. Love taking that thing on long trips, just sipping on fuel.

I really only take my truck on long drives when I need to lug groceries, golf clubs, or my mountain bike around. My commute is all urban interstate, so I stay off the bike for that, too. Just too dangerous with people texting and driving. One morning I even saw a girl smoking a bowl, on the freeway, in a curve, drifting out of the lane. Sociopathic disregard for others.

Oh...I have encountered NUMEROUS people smokin the weed in their vehicles in plain sight without giving a $h!t. Had one drift into my lane while I was on the motorcycle...I literally kicked and dented their rear door!! They could care less as they look at you with their glazed look and still holding the joint. Bunch of tards!!:rolleyes:

Same with the texters 🤦‍♂️

My Harley gets about the same but 1250 Bandit is about the same but that's pulling the front wheel off once in awhile and some hard throttle use. 750 Honda with DCT will do in the 60's without too much trouble...with the Tusk boxes left behind mid 60's are easy...drag and weight has a big effect. The floppy leather bags and my legs stuck in the wind on the Harley don't help.

My son was at Tesla last week and got a call from a guy who wanted to see about the cost for a new seat cover, my son asked so what happened and he replied that he sparked one up and was jamming to the tunes when a couple of seeds popped and burned him and the seat. My son in his usual way say you know if you just turned the tunes up and opened the window you could have stood outside and we wouldn’t be needing to find a seat cover. The guy obviously stoned at that moment said wow dude, if only I thought of that first.
So there you have it another bright star 🌟 in our society! 🤦🏼‍♂️😆
I pray when I go out on my motorcycles, in my Titan I believe the other guy will fare worse than me.

Just wondering if anybody tried one of those performance chips that plug into the OBD2 port? If so did it increase the MPG?

Thanks
Yeah I just got one from Thornton Chip Tuning. Its a stage 3 which is 60 hp. I saw an difference right away but when I went to pass someone and stepped on it, truck was bucking and hesitating. I got a hold of the company right away. They're sending me another for free. Said it could be faulty. But yes. RPMs went up and quicker throttle response

Is that from the truck computer because it’s off by about 15% if you do the math yourself.

miles driven divide by gas tank gallons. best mileage was driving no more than steady 60 MPH yo will not get the best over 65 MPH, so at 70-80 it will be low twenties
