Hi all!
Hope everyone is well in Frontierland.
I previously owned a 2022 Frontier Crew Cab SV RWD which I bought more or less on impulse after driving it at a local dealership. Paid MSRP and ended up a little over $37k with one of those 8 year stretched out loans. Really loved the truck, but had to course correct financially, and ended up being fortunate enough to sell to Carvana and recover the taxes and registration paid without eating too many payments with interest.
Before I bought my Frontier, I had a Ford Maverick on order. As many of you may know, they took forever to get built (and are still taking forever as best I can tell) and there have been some quality issues. It's a $20k truck from Ford so I guess that's to be expected. Shortly after I sold the Frontier, my Maverick was built, and I flew out to Iowa to pick one up. They offered $3k off MSRP so I ended up getting the truck at $19180 with a locked-in interest rate of 1.9% (the rate at the time I ordered). Current payoff is around $17,500.
Now the Mav is worth $30,712.00 to Carvana, and I could get back into a low mileage 2022 Frontier for about $18k with my trade equity. Could finance with me credit union in the mid 5% range.
While I have liked the Maverick MPG and the SUV like ride, I've never been a fan of the Ecoboost engine and there are definitely some fit and finish issues on the interior and exterior. It's a $20k truck and you can tell. As far as my Frontier, the biggest issue was the cost for me. I didn't love the 9-speed transmission but everything these days is an 8-speed or higher so is what it is. It always felt like a solid truck and I think it would hold up better over time than the Ford.
Hope everyone is well in Frontierland.
