I was wondering what this community thought about this. The rain channels on the roof of my truck doesn't seem right. Looks like there is only silicone in the channel and maybe should have trim or something over it. Contacted the dealer and told me that's how they all were. Does anyone know if that is correct? If so, is there anything I can do to protect his area? The rain seems to funnel the water under he glass frame so it's making me a little worried.

Mine looks the same without the silicone. I have the black piece on the front and the back but there’s nothing inside the channel on mine at all.

I've had three and they've all just had open channels. Covering it would defeat the purpose of it being there.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I wouldn't mind if it was just open without that odd silicone bead down the channel. It's causing a litttle bit of water to pool up in the channel.

It ALMOST looks like they patched it after removing a roof rack? My '05 doesn't have the caulking like yours, but it's a KC and it looks like you have a CC.

My channel is empty too, but im pretty sure it doesn't have that silicon in there. If it does, its a lot more smoothed out

That would make sense except the OEM roof rack doesn't even touch the channel... for the record mine is smooth and empty too. @Jusbao does it have this "silicone" stuff on both sides?

I'm just going off of memory because my truck is home and I'm not, but I'm pretty sure the channels on my '09 aren't smooth like you'd expect if they were just metal. There are no obvious silicone globs that I recall, but there is rippling. I never gave much thought to what might be causing the wavey appearance. I'll try to remember to take a closer look and/or snag a pic later.

I stand corrected, I just went out to look at my truck, and that "silicone" type thing is there, but you can only tell at the rear end, I just took a photo of it:

The left side is exactly the same. Considering mine is a 2014, this isn't anything "new" and I wouldn't be surprised if @JeniorNV 's and other model years earlier than mine are the same deal

Yep it has it on both sides. The other side not pictured looks way smoothe.
