I just crawled under my truck to start installing a hitch, and lo and behold... there are no skidplates to be found on the oil pan, t-case, or fuel tank.

I thought I missed some major decontenting update, but I decided to check the Nissan website just to make sure...

Nissan's site lists this under standard features:

EXTERIOR FEATURES
Skid plates – oil pan, fuel tank, 4x4 transfer case
So, fellow 2016 Pro-4X owners, do you have your skids?

I don't, but as far as I know it should have them. I would call the dealer or Nissan customer service & ask.

Our trucks should have them - glad to see I'm not the only one with the issue at least.

Guess I'll be off to the dealer on Monday morning.
I mistyped, I meant to say I dont have a pro4x, but every single one I seen had skid plates & they are advertised as having them. Im thinking it was a slip-up at the factory.

Yes. I consider them more like covers and not skid plates LOL

get them to give you the money instead and get real skid plates. I know it is not likely that they will, but you not only want the price of the tin, you also want the install money or if they will install for you for free, you buy the real skids and not have to crawl under the truck.

Good point. IOW, they had better damn well install them for free.

I have Skids on my '16 and our family had them on the '15 Pro-4X. Really unusual that they aren't on your '16 Pro-4X. Our family has had several Frontier and Xterra Pro-4X and Offroads. The features, like skids, are listed on the Monroni ( new vehicle window sticker required by federal law). On line brochures, adverts and specs change, but if an item is on the window sticker, it has to be on the vehicle. So Zillon, show the dealer your window sticker and they will have to install any item that was not on the window sticker at time of purchase or work out some other arrangement such as compensating you for selling you a vehicle that did not have what was promised.

Don't be surprised when they ask you to prove they weren't installed when you left the lot with it.....
I don't think they'd try that, but if they do, they'll regret trying to pull that move with me.

I sell cars and I know exactly how to go right up the food chain. Bottom line is, the truck doesn't have something it's supposed to be equipped with from the factory.

My 16 Pro4x doesn't have them. I called the service manager and the plates have been ordered and will be added at no charge. No issues at all with the dealership.
Interesting to see another one.

Hefty plates would be nice... but I'm potentially about to make a job switch and blowing $700 doesn't sound like a solid financial plan.

Your truck is probably too new to be able to tell if there was once a skid plate mounted and someone decided to steal them.

The factory skids are not very pricey so it would be best to just get the skids. From memory the oil pan skid and t-case skid=$20-30 each. Gas tank=$100-150.

The factory gas tank skid is good. I have trundled over many rocks with them. It keeps the rocks from ripped through the plastic tank. However the skid will be pushed up and the gas tank dented. After such encounters it is best to remove the skid and to let the gas tank pop back out, and the bash the skid straight again.

The oil pan skid is basically worthless. If you do any wheeling this is the one to replace/upgrade. Though the oil pan skid might help you with some light encounters, it does nothing for the fragile aluminum front diff that sits forward and lower than the oil pan.

The transmission is up and tucked away, I have never hit mine. THe Auto trans sits a little lower and have a vulnerable pan.

I have only taken one hit to the t-case. The stock skid seem to have done a decent job protecting it. It did chip off a corner to the t-case. Look like some extra casting. No aftermarket t-case skid protects the exhaust at this location which I crushed during this encounter.

Stock radiator skid (which you should have) is solid.

I would say your best course of action is to get the dealer to replace the factory skids. Then to get a front engine skid if you do ANY wheelin. Then add other aftermarket skids as need.

Dealer will be installing factory skids.

I just want what I paid for at this point, aftermarket is another thing I'll tackle at a later date.
