I saw it was posted here somewhere...called in and my VIN qualifies the recall...

The dealership I guess has to inspect the vehicle to see if the part is from the bad lot#, then order the part.

They also said I was the first to call in about it, so hopefully that means that if I need a part, that it'll be a short-term issue...

According to NHTSA, mine should be part of it, too. We all should be getting letters probably in about two weeks...

MANUFACTURED FROM NOVEMBER 19, 2009 THROUGH MARCH 3, 2010. THE LOWER CONTROL LINK ASSEMBLY HAS TWO CYLINDRICAL COLLARS FORMING THE INBOARD ATTACHMENT POINTS TO THE CHASSIS. DUE TO AN IMPROPER WELDING PROCESS SOME COLLARS MAY CONTAIN WELDS THAT DO NOT MEET STRENGTH SPECIFICATIONS.
Consequence:
IF THE COLLAR WELD SEPARATES, THE VEHICLE HANDLING WILL DETERIORATE, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
Remedy:
NISSAN WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL REPAIR THE VEHICLES FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR ABOUT JUNE 14, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.

If you look under the lower control arm there is a code stamped in it. Mine had a Z which they said is included and there are other letters but I'm not sure what they are. You can call and ask for all the other letters and check yourself.

Took it to the dealership, and sure enough, mine needs the replacement parts. They said they got the order put in, but no ETA...said soemthing about Saturday's the office is closed or something.

I also complained about my rear differential whine....they said they found shavings...so I get a new diff too, and I told them that they might as well do them at the same time...

Got an update - parts arrived. New rear differential and control arms.

I'll be dropping off the truck tonight. I *think* they said that it'd be ready to pick up tomorrow evening (I figure worst case, I can pick it up Saturday)

Too bad the dealership doesn't offer loaners =/

Anyhow...just an update.

New control arms went on yesterday - rear diff apparently was the wrong part - they said it didn't have the same measurements or something like that...not sure what that's all about, but, they'll get another rear axle in the middle of next week.

I received a email notice today from my Nissan Dealership that said:

A safety recall has been issued for your 2005 Nissan Frontier 4WD:

Nissan will notify owners and dealers will replace any affected lower link free of charge. the safety recall is expected to begin on or about June 14

Apparently this issue may be affecting older Gen 2 Frontier also.

There is more info here: Nissan Recalls - 2005 Nissan Frontier
for any other 2005 4x4 owners

Will update when I have more details....

My truck was done last week and after installing the arms they adjusted the alignment and it drives even nicer now.
Never thought the ride wasn't perfect but tweaking it a bit did wonders.

i was wondering if they put cam bolts on the lower control arms when they installed the new control arms or did they put the regular bolts back in that it came with? i am having this done on monday.

I was told the cam bolts go on the upper arms. Was it truth or fiction.
Bottom bolts are original with new nuts and put on the rack to check alignment.

Mine need to be replaced per dealer--
funny thing they said 'don't do any offroading until the new parts are on.'
HA! A few weeks back, we went airborne breifly (forgot about a little dry creek crossing on an otherwise very smooth gravel road) & nothun' broke (except the cooler which was ejected from the bed)...but it is good to know they are being proactive.

this is a similar looking part. It's located behind and under the front brakes.

figured id bump this thread. Took my 2010 SE 4x4 crew cab (build date 01/10) in today to my dealer to get the recall parts inspected. They need to be replaced. Also, they said there is a recall on the front drive shaft? Surprisingly, they have both the control arms and drive shaft in stock and are performing the repair on the spot. They gave me a rental for the day.

I didnt know about a front drive shaft recall....

update:

Truck seems to drive smoother with the new control arms (probably due to alignment). Obviously i dont notice anything with the new driveshaft.

The dealership said that the recall on the driveshaft was a voluntary recall. After some digging I basically learned that the company Dana who makes driveshafts for several automakers, has a specific model that is used in the Tacoma and Frontier. Toyota recalled all driveshafts in their 2010 model Tacoma trucks whereas Nissan just put the TSB/voluntary one out on record.

Apparently the driveshaft could be part of a lot which were unbalanced eventually causing it to separate from the yoke or something like that...

Anyway, its weird because you cant find the recall if you do a search online but if you call nissan and give them your VIN, 2010 model Frontiers will come up with it.

From the new kid, (67 ) on the board, I am glad I stumbled on this thread. Thanks all.
I called Nissan Customer Service that ended up in Canada and talked to Maryanne. Gave all the info she wanted along with vin #. Was informed that my 2010 Frontier, CC, Pro-4X has no recalls associated with the build date. No front, rear control arms or front drive shaft.
I took possession June 19, 2010 and have 1258 miles so far. I keep getting a service engine soon light that I am sure is the gas cap which they replaced. Other than that I am a happy old man that's going on 36yrs.

I just got a recall notice from Nissan in the mail for my '05, it says that they are recalling "lower control links", not sure what part that is exactly. The notice says the original ones are fine but if I had one replaced between November 25, 2009 and May 14, 2010 I may have one of the affected parts. Never had mine replaced so I know I'm good. I'm curious if this part is related to or the same one they're recalling on 2010 frontier suspension parts, but I thought that was the lower control arm?
