After going back and forth with the installer to determine if the lift (Daystar Comfort Ride 2" in front 1" read) or active suspension system (Roadmaster Active Suspension) was causing launch vibration, Nissan today confirmed that the angles have changed on the driveline.

This ONLY happens at launch and lasts 2 seconds at most. With all the lifts on trucks I read about here I can't believe there isn't more info on this.

If there's a Nissan tech on this board - I'd love to talk to you if you can offer any info or advice. Since the shaft is one piece I can't think of anything else I can do to correct this. Nissan doesn't think it will harm anything and didn't say it voided the warranty.

It's pretty weird I'm experiencing this with such a slight lift though. Anyone have experience with this??

Thanks

It kinda sounds like they just don't want to take the time to find out what is really wrong...... I looked up your lift and I think you have shackles in the rear? If that's right, then I don't see why you are having vibes...I ran adjustable shackles from PRG set at 1.5" for a month or so before trading up to deaver spring packs and didn't have any problems. I can tell you this though: check your exhaust pipe for clearance from your new shackles. The reason I traded up to spring packs was that my exhaust pipe was rubbing the shackles at the bend in the pipe under a load. Mine didn't make any noise I could hear, but I like to listen to music pretty loud. It might be worth checking. Take it easy and good luck!

If the driveline angle is that fubared (which I highly doubt), then get a set of angled shims to install between the axle and the leafs. This will correct the angle. Heck, I think they even sell them at napa or autozone or etc.... I would measure the OEM angle of the same model at the dealership with an angle finder and then measure yours. Find the difference and apply that shim. You can do it thru trig but this is a lot easier.

After calling many local driveline shops and failing to find one willing to look into my issues, I changed strategy and started calling custom 4x4 shops. Have an appointment to get some angled shims fitted and installed in two weeks. He sounded very confident that he could solve the problem.

I installed the 5" calmini on my 2010 pro-4X but it does have the shackles and I have no vibration at all, maybe the calmini is that different idk

That's interesting, wonder why 5" doesn't change the angles? I hoping that the angled shims I'm getting next week address the issue.

Thanks

Ive been running a 2.5/1.5 system on my 2010 for months. No vibes... not one issue. I have the rear shackles. Me thinks something else is going wrong there.

Before you start to pay people to look into the issue, why don't you remove the roadmaster springy thingy and see what happens.

I am going to say that it isn't the shackle. If anything, that will make the ride more spongy but not cause the vibration that you are reporting.

Does it do this every time you start from a stop or only the first few times? Also, is there a vibe difference if you give it 20% compared to 80% off the line?

I've already done that. Vibe was still there with lift and no roadmaster. Lift seems to be the culprit for whatever reason.

Your lift will not cause significant changes to driveline angles. I would NOT shim, the axles. This is going to lead to other issues.

If you have a vibration that last for 2 seconds while accelerating, I'd jsut live with it. It is not enough to worry about.

What other issues will, or could, shimming the axles cause? I appreciate the advice, would like to hear more.

I can both see and feel the vibration coming from the rear end of the truck on launch. It doesn't make any noise. If I take off super-slow it won't vibrate at all.

You can see the truck bed moving along with the vibration being felt by looking in the sideview mirror at the bed.

The lift shouldn't be "junk". It gets decent reviews and whatnot. I'm considering ordering new shackles, but will wait to see what the 4x4 shop has to say about it after they see it and drive it. I appreciate everyone's advice and suggestions!

I've been driving it with the slight vibrations now for about a year. So far no issues at all. When I first got it done I went to Nissan to have it looked at and they were not concerned at all and said it would NOT negatively impact warranty status.
