2010 Frontier radio upgrade

19982 Views 5 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  docsnyder
To retain the factory look, I plan to upgrade my unit with the 6 disc, mp3 unit.
The 2010 (2009, too?) have a slightly new dash design.

Do I also need a new faceplate to cover audio and climate controls?

Could not find a part no. online for a faceplate... Can anybody help?
I found a part no. for the 6disc radio and the audio jack, though...

Thank you very much.

Don't know exactly what you mean, as I assumed all the stereos used the same plate. But if you'll find it anywhere, I'd say it should be here: 680 Instrument Panel, Pad & Cluster Lid :: Body(Front,Roof & Floor) :: Genuine Nissan Parts :: Frontier Parts (D40) 2005-2010 :: Nissan Parts, NISMO and Nissan Accessories - Courtesyparts.com
I found that, too.
Unfortunately the 2010 radio / faceplates seem to be different from the 2009s and earlier.... For the 2010s, it's one piece, covering the ac controls and the radio.
May be I should go for a aftermarket solution or wait until the 2010 catalog/list is out.
I was under the impression that there was no difference between the 2009 and the 2010 (2008 and earlier is different). Just so I'm clear on what you are trying to do... you have a 2010, and want to upgrade your single cd to the 6 cd unit? If so, I think the other head unit should just fit in your current instrument panel. I've attached an image of what my 2009 RF 6-CD unit looks like (while I was putting in my GPS dock). Your single cd should look the same, no? If so, then so long as you can get a 6 cd unit from a 2009+, it should fit. They might be a bit hard to come by though. I think lots of guys who put in aftermarket stuff like to hang on to their stock HU to put back in case they sell the truck. Given the price of one from Courtesy (over $700!!!) you don't want to buy new, as you could get a complete aftermarket system that would kick *** on your current setup for that price.
