i have searched all over and have not found anything on this. i have a 2010 se cc 4x4 and when coming to a stop or going around 20mph i can hear a fast paced clumping noise, it gets slower as the truck slows. i have read that alot of you have u joint problems but my truck has only 4000mi. this sounds like a u joint to me. does anyone have this problem or have any ideas. sorry i am new here and already posted this in the new member section by mistake so i thought more people mite see my post here. this is my first nissan and i dont know if this is normal. i would like to have an idea before going to the dealer. any ideas would be a big help. thanks

well i have had this truck to the dealer now 3 times and still no luck. the first trip they fixed the creeking drivers window and said they would have to call the nissan tech line about the clunking noise.
the third time back they replaced the rear drive shaft and the sound is still there. 3 techs can hear it and so does the service adviser. it is a rotational knock or clunck that starts fast at around 20mph and gets slower as the truck slows. it sounds like i have a big rock stuck in a tire but the noise is knocking faster than the tire is spinning. it is not the engine because it only happens when the truck is moving.
im goin back to the dealer on monday and they are goin to take the diff cover of and inspect the diff.

please does anyone know what this mite be i am goin nuts. this is a new truck with only 5000mi. on it. any ideas would be a big help. thanks

well the dealer called and said there was metel chunks in the diff so they are goin to replace the whole rear axle. so if anyone has these nioses then look at the rear diff.

from what i have read the c200 seems to be a reliable axle. mine failed at 5000mi. i do tow a trailer for my business but its less than 2300lbs and i didnt tow during the brake in period.

are these reliable axles?

Your original c200k was a lemon I guess. I have only heard of a few blowing. Did they show you the gears? I assume it was the spiders and they just sheared off at some point and ground up in the diff.

i didnt get to see the diff. the had the cover back on and filled with fluid. the dealer said it was ok to drive until the new one shows up on tuesday. i hope i just got a bad axle. i used to drive fords and all of them were junk but even with them i never had problems like this.

Dam that sucks, never heard of this before. Hope this was an isolated incident and this doesn’t become a common occurrence for 2010 owners.

other than this axle deal i realy like the truck. i traded a 08 tacoma acsess cab trd for it because i needed more room. the frontier is alot smoother, solid, better looking and you get a lot more for your money.

Dang buddy that bites! At least the dealer guys can hear it and they have a possible fix. I only have 1200 mi on mine but I am going to keep listening. Post up when the repair is done to let us know if it worked.

How long is the break in period you mentioned for a 2010? My dealer told me there was no break in period. Guess I'll look at the manual before I start pulling my boat.

My Pro-4x is brand new, less than 400 miles on her so I don't want to do anything that could cause problems down the road.

I think the manual says something at 500 mi and something at 1200 mi. My dealer was very clear in pointing this out to me. There are also a few threads on different ways to break things in. Try a search, and in the end do what you think is best.

Happy truckin'

well the truck has 23000 miles on it now and the clunking noise is back. is there any other 2010 owners that have this problem? i do alot of towing but the trailer doesnt weigh more than 2800lbs. i have changed diff fluid and did not notice any metal on the plug. is this rear end not that great for towing?

Mine just started doing the same thing today. 2010 CC 4X4 with 9000 mi. Only at or around 20mph or less and only while coasting. I actually got out of the truck to see if a rock was stuck in the tire. I drove around the parking lot a few times, drove in reverse, and then took it on the highway. After this the truck stopped making the clunking sound. I've got a feeling I haven't heard the last of this though. Boom2225 -what ever became of yours....?
