Had a belt squeeling so I finally got around to changing it yesterday. When replacing it, the tensioner felt ok but could kept the belt a little tighter I thought.. Thinking maybe the tensioner is loosing strength and letting it get loose and still squeel? Anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks, Rob

I've had that problem with my 2000 alternator belt for a long time (at least the last 5 or 6 years). I would max out the tension bolt and it would still scream at me on start up (and this was with a new belt). While I could have gone and searched for a new tensioner, replaced pulleys etc, I opted to get a slightly shorter belt and it has worked well for me ever since.

I was thinking of the tensioner to just be safe but it looked like a royal pain in the *** to get to! I'll havta look in my book and see what it says as for procedures. It felt ok when putting the new belt on but it's still slipping so the only thing left would be the tensioner. Think there like $40 on rockauto
