Ok, i have a 2005 pathy that seems to have all the inherent problems for this model.
I have fixed/replaced fuel sending unit, AC resistor pack, bypassed radiator
Still listening to whining timing chain and dealing with a wacko slip light.
This site has been helpful with many fixes from upper manifold access for spark plug changing, pulling gas tank, to finding where the cabin air filter should be located. I am grateful for the input so far. can anyone help me with this one?

Runs normal most of the time, approximately every 2nd or 3rd use it misses, nearly stalls, or stalls 1-5 minutes after driving 1-3 times. Seems to occur after decelerating, usually 10-45MPH. Seems to be starved for gas when restarting. A month ago when it began, it only occurred when the gas tank was below 1/4 tank and just felt like a miss (thought it was the antifreeze into tranny syndrome starting). Now it can be more than a half of tank, and stalls or near stalls. so getting worse.
Normally I would think fuel pump, but these computer generation inputs make me very reluctant to assume.
The only posts that I have found that is anything close to these signs and symptoms involve the IPDM. Do think the problem began about the time I was working on the AC, which involved me being up in the relay/fuse box.
Any ideas?

I recently read an article about a coolant temperature sensor being responsible for a stalling or no start condition. Seems the computer needs to know the engine temp so it can set itself to start based on the temp.

2005 stalling

You keep mentioning fuel pump, what about the fuel filter or pickup?
From what Ive read, fuel filter is in the tank with the pump. If I convince myself problem is in the tank, I will probably replace both. I would also check the pickup when I pulled the tank. Fear its some other problem and will go through the expense and hassle of pulling the tank(again) and problem still exist. Wanted to post, to make sure someone else hasnt found another source. ??

If it is the IPDM, it is usually a single relay that starts to fail. You can swap the foglight relay with that one as a quick and dirty fix. I would try that first and if it doesn't help, then it probably isn't the IPDM.

Is a CEL/SES light on? and if so, any codes?

Note: There are relays hidden INSIDE of the IPDM on it's printed circuit that are soldered. If none of the relays on the IPDM turn out to be the culprit, find yourself an IPDM. Also, titan IPDM on the VQ40DE looks identical to the titan/armada's, but is not, has different programming.

Start swapping the relays in the IPDM... see what happens.

You can find replacement relays that fit in the IPDM at basically any part store, they don't be able to bring it up on the computer for you, just go browse their boxes of relays till you find the same one.

swapping the relay with the fog light relay worked for me. I have yet to look for the proper relay to replace that fog light relay. please look back to older posts(I believe on this thread) for diagrams and pictures of whic relay to swap.
2 minute procedure, use a flashlight.

addendum; I actually see it wasnt this thread with the pictures and diagrams. search tool for IPDM will get you there.

Thanks Pathy, I had the ECM Relay changed with a recall last year so I have know idea what it could be. I feel like it is always something with this truck. It really scares me the way she describes it, she says that while turning on a main road it stalled. She says that she pushed the gas all the way and it never died but it just slowly came out of the stall. Of course I can not get it to do it for me.

The IPDM relay is under recall. I would see if your vehicle is under recall for it and if it is it will be replaced for free.

Had this problem and called to see if my IPDM relay was under recall, turns out I had 3 recalls.
ECM Relay
Front Door Lock
Tether Update
I ended up paying $0 and got a carwash and they fixed my tpms for free too. So just posting to say thank you! :urock: for the advice to check for recalls.. and letting everyone know that it was my ECM relay that caused the stalling and running like crap.
