I'm having trouble starting when my engine is cold. It cranks for about 25 seconds and finally starts. Idles rough until it warms up and then runs great. I also notice a strong gas smell from exhaust on start, and a little white smoke. I just replaced my distributer and everything was great for a month. Thinking it was a bad distributer I just changed again but same issue.

Distributor cap & rotor changed as well...both times?
Best to use a Nissan/OEM distributor when replacing.

I would make sure the idle control valve (IACV-AAC valve) is working properly. It controls the cold start fast idle. Also make sure the engine coolant temp sensor is good and check your fuel pressure to make sure it's not excessive and not bleeding down excessively.
