I have a fog light kit that I need to install in my brothers 03 XE. We bought it off ebay like 2 years ago and never opened the box until now. Apparently this truck has no pre wiring whatsoever and there is no instructions in the box. Does anyone know how these wires route? It has to be ran all the way into the passenger compartment where the switch is on the left side adjacent to the steering wheel in the factory location. Please email me at [email protected] with any assistance.

Looks like a pretty good kit, except for the lack of instructions. Depends on how comfortable you are with automotive electrical. Basically you're going to pick up 12VDC at the lighting stalk with the park light if you want them to come on with the park lights - or with the low beams if you want it to be completely like stock. Run this wire to one side of the switch, then run the output of the switch through the firewall somehow to the engine bay. It's usually better to piggyback these through an existing wiring harness gromet rather than drilling. This wire will control the relay that you'll connect to the battery.

So the low current switch on your dash will control the relay under the hood that will power the lights. Ground the lights and the negative side of the coil on the relay to the body, preferably at existing grounding points.

Good luck!

On my 2003 the fog lights are stock but setup a bit different as to turn them on is not a switch on dash it's located left (turn switch I forget what it's called).

So yes you will need to wire that switch into the blank spot left of the steering wheel. You will probably need to run the wires through the firewalls rubber grommet located below the master cylinder. I can't tell you the exact way to do this but if you lay out the lights and shoot a pic that may help. Layout the lights on the ground and make all the connections you can then check out what wires you will need. Obviously you will need a hot connection and a ground and I assume that may come from the fuse box for the hot (however, not sure).

Thanks guys, I wasn't sure if anyone else had experience with this particular kit. I know on my 05 Fronty and my 06 X the harnesses were tucked up un the front of the vehicle. Research on this 03 indicates that if it didn't come with fogs, Nissan did put the harness in.

I am comfortable doing the wiring, I was actually a tech at a Nissan dealership in the early 90's and used to install all kinds of stuff. Back then even air conditioners were not standard equipment in all cars and I used to put entire systems in. But in these cases at least the harness(es) were there.

There appears to be a block off plate under the master cylinder. I may see if I can remove this plate and install a grommet to run the harness through. Thanks for the direction.

How many wires need to go through the firewall? I did a single wire for my e-fan with a coat hanger in which I sharpened at the end.

Just remember that whatever wire goes through the firewall either apply silicon for a good seal and make sure your wire droops before entry. The droops stops water from running down the wire and towards the grommet.

Sounds like you've got it under control with that kind of experience. From what I've read, trucks with power windows have the harness with the fog light sockets taped to the headlight harness, but I'm not certain about this. From '02 forward the stock fogs came with a switch on the turn signal/lighting stalk. I bought one out of a salvage yard off of car-part.com for when I eventually install mine. Nothing wrong with the dash switch either though...

I removed a factory foglight wiring harness from a 97 Pathfinder in the junkyard.

The relay was mounted on the passenger's side firewall.

The wires for the fog lights (bulbs) ran from the relay along the passenger's inner fender well, through a hole in the radiator support between the battery and the radiator and to the fog lights on the front bumper.

The wires for the fog light switch in the cab ran from the relay across the firewall to the driver's side and into the cab. The pathfinder had a pre drilled hole by the master cylinder.

The location of the where you mount the relay is determined by the length of wire that goes from the relay to the positive side of the battery.

i have the same exact kit, you gunna have to cut off the grey connector and hard wire it into hot wires of the vehicle. i ran all the wires thru the drivers side grommet. any more help? just ask.

Hey Oregon thanks for the reply dude. The only grey connector I see that I think your talking about has a single white wire coming out of it right? It has a sticker on it that I think says (Light or Ignition) And if that is the cable you speak of where does it go?

Am I correct?

Actually it's all done, came out pretty sweet. Only issue I had was I couldn't find the fuse in the fuse box under the steering wheel that was for the parking lights. Ended up going with an ACC plug in the fuse box so they come on with the foglight switch pressed and the ignition on ACC.

At least that way they'll come off when I pull out the keys and not stay on.

Anyone know which is the fuse for the parking lights on a 2004 Frontier XE-V6?

Nah no problem, it was a fun little project. But for the life of me I can't figure out which is the parking light fuse. I've gone through each fuse right under the steering wheel.

Here's a pic though, sorry about the bad quality as it was taken from my phone.
