I can barely see the dashboard lights. Is this normal on 1st gen Frontiers?

I can turn the intensity from barely visible to off so the switch/dimmer seems to be ok. Am I just asking too much for 20 year old bulbs to be working well?

Anyone know what bulbs are used in the dashboard? Are there LED replacement bulbs available? I really don't want to pull the dashboard apart, pull a bulb, re-assemble the dashboard, go to the store, play "match-a-bulb", then go back home and install new bulbs.

(Yeah, I could probably borrow my wife's car to go to the store but finding the bulb might be an all-day / order from Amazon deal so I would still end up putting it back together before getting the new bulbs...)

I found that most of mine were burnt out. I replaced them with LEDs I bought on Amazon. Also gave me an opportunity to take the dash apart and clean out 20 years of dust and junk that made the truck “smell old”.

Thanks for that link @3dog! I don't suppose you know how many bulbs are in the dash, would you? Wondering if this 12pack is enough.

Dash lights in my 2004 Frontier are pretty dim until it's completely dark; tough to read numbers on speedometer in daylight whether lights on or off.

I can't remember offhand for the 1998 Frontier in twilight, can read the dash stuff better in that in daylight than in the 2004.

The twelve pack was enough. I even did the blinker bulbs. Those blinkers are blinding at night now. No leaving the blinkers on by accident

I still have 7 left from the 12, so I used 5 including the blinker bulbs. (The little green arrows in the dash not exterior ones 😉)
