turn the key, all lights come on but wont start, wont even crank

battery is new. wont jump start.

thought it would be wise to change the battery cables and terminals....

AND this is were things get hairy. I cut off the old terminals and was going to splice a battery cable on. Unfortunately the guage of the cable is apparently HUGE and none of the splice kits seem to fit it. ALSO the cable is too short so i cant just add on a terminal.

so my options :

1. replace the battery cables entirely. So how hard will that be? any videos or tips? will I need to jack the trunk up?

2. somehow splice the cables. any ideas?

open to suggestions for I am an idiot

First things first.
Automatic or manual transmission?

If auto.... did you try starting the truck in neutral?

No crank but did you hear a relay click from the interior fuse box area when you'd try to crank her up? Could be the park/neutral safety switch.

Do you have a battery cable stretcher?

Jk. You have options. You can buy a splice repair kit or a 4 ga. butt connector.

The ground is easiest to actually replace entirely because the distance from the terminal to the chassis ground is about 12".
