I have been tossing around the idea of adding a 2" body lift in addition to the adjustable Bilstein and rear block set up I currently have. I think this would provide ample clearance for 285s. I like the way the truck looks now with the 265s and 2" lift but if I go with the 285 size I think the body lift would be needed to keep it looking good and not a whole lot of tire stuffed into the fenders. Anyone have this set up or pics of it? Thoughts?

Ive had a 2" body lift on my truck for years and I like the extra gap it offers. I don't rock crawl and am not worried about centre mass balance blah blah blah that people have against body lifts. For lighter wheeling, they are a very economical alternative to big dollar suspension lifts. Adding a 2" BL is really easy on our trucks, as well.

Thanks! My current one has Bilsteins with HD coils and a leaf pack, no body lift (yet). Somehow I have 3" of lift according to measurements even though I should only have 2 (measured from center of the wheel hub so not taking into account the tires).

Nice I set my bils to 1.5 with a half inch spacer and the rear block is 1" great ride quality. What bl did you use on the last truck?

I made the DIY, which is probably what I'll do again (I left it on because of the tires when I sold that truck). It's not hard if you have the right tools. If you don't have a way of making the bumper brackets you can buy them. If you have a plastic bumper you don't need them though.

Luckily I have the plastic front bumper so that will help me. I lack a drill press so I think I will be buying the pucks. Any rubbing issues with the 285s ?

If i raise it 2 or 3 inches will the 285s fit well or is it going to scrape and would a wide stance effect any of it?
I have 2.5 suspension lift in the front and 3.5 in the back with 2 inch body lift and 2 inch wheel spacers and 265/70r17 and done about a half inch of trimming and still scrapes getting in and out of driveways.

The big advantage in a body lift, is you do not destroy your droop travel.
I would much rather go with a limited suspension lift and a body lift rather than a 3+“ lift.
Your suspension will perform much better.
Off course there will be people saying “I have 3” of lift and performs great!”
BS.
