Reading over this last page here.....

Aftermarket, or just different for that matter, wheels make a big difference in the tire coming in contact with the fender and bumper. The more they stick out, the more likely you're going to have contact. For example, just going to the wheels I have now (from stock) made a set of 31s hit my fenders.

Also, the whole weight difference between 31s and 32s isn't just as cut and dry as they weigh x amount more, unless of course you're talking about 31s and 32s in the same model or tire a vs. tire b. The Wrangler MT/Rs I have now (32s) weigh more than a lot of 33s I've picked up.

Here's a pic of where it rubs currently. I'll post an after pic on Fri after the BL is done.
Also it may be hitting the brake line shield on the frame. My tires hit there. I've not measured them, but they are listed on the manufacturers site as a 32.25. The link is in my sig. I'm running the factory SC rims, 17x8.

Hate asking a stupid question like this, but I searched and had no luck. I just picked up a 1998 Frontier with a 2.4 liter. I was wondering what its oil capacity was? I searched on Google as well and everything I read was 4 quarts, but I just wanted to check with some guys that knew before I did this trucks next oil change.

Not stupid just basic. Here's a link to the owner's manual for 98. Thanks goes to Courtesy a site sponsor as well. It depends on if it's 4x4 or not. 3.75 or 4.125

Thanks for the link! I ordered a Chiltons for the truck, but it hasn't shown up yet. The truck had no owners manual with it and I am stationed in Italy, so I can't just shoot down to the auto parts store and pick one up.

More on the #6 spark plug

I just finished replacing the plugs on my 2000, V6.
The number 6 plug is pretty much everything I've been reading about.
I'd like to add a couple of things:
1. If you are small like me, about 5'7", you can keep the hood on and just crawl up onto the front of the truck.
2. I found it easier to put the spark plug socket on the 6" extension, maneuver it into place and then add a 3' extension.
3. I wasn't able to seat the socket until I blew out 12 years of acorns and assorted other junk mice collect! I used a blow gun with a long 1/4" copper tube extension to reach right down to the plug.
4. and finally... I have some old, worn out tools so my 3/8" extensions don't always stay together or even on the ratchet. I used duct tape to hold them all together and I'm glad I did! If one of those extensions falls or gets pulled off it would be a nightmare trying to get it out. I'd recommend doing it even if the tools are new.

I keep pretty close attention to my gas mileage which has slipped to about 16.8. I'm interested to see if there's been any difference.

I have been having problems with my gas milage. I used to get hi 16s and now i am down to 14mpg. this is crazy for a v6. I have an 03 4dr.w/120,000miles. I just got new tires 31x10.5(this is the size i got it with). new timing and hoses10,000 miles ago. fresh oil and air filter. could my plugs be the problem? would they really make the diff? any help would be great

Gas mileage

One of the biggest culprits in low gas mileage is usually O2 sensors. When they start to wear out, your fuel mapping gets out of whack. Pretty pricey to replace them all (and really tough to find aftermarket ones with the right connectors!). You can probably get a dealer to test them as the truck's running (look at how stable the resistance is). A local shop probably won't have an OBDII reader that is that sophisticated.

Other basic culprits could include:
- tire wear / tire pressure / alignment
- fuel / air filters dirty
- plugs / wires

I have a couple questions. I just did a 2inch lift with blocks and t bar. First thing is I am trying to find what shocks I should get so im not maxing out when i flex and I dont want to spend alot as im on a tight budget. Second is im needing to go another 1.5-2 inches in the front to level it out. I know im gonna need new uca's can I just reindex the tbar and crank some more or should i get an after market one. Is there anything else i need to consider upgrading or changing with the 2 inch lift.

Thanks guys.

All the air box mods refer to the 6 cylinder, any hints for the 4 banger?

OK, so I read through this and alot of the other torsion bar stuff....... but excuse my ignorance, as I've always just maintained my vehicles but never Modified them:

I have a '00 2.4L 2WD, and wouldn't mind it a little higher (if anything to level it) to have bigger tires and a little more clearance.

In regards to the leaf spring addition: Can it just be any compatible sized leaf? or is it a new set? Can I just pull a Leaf (or 2) from a Frontier at a junkyard?

In regards to shackles: Are they to be mounted straight vertical? I noticed the stock ones on my truck are turned back towards the rear. It would seem that if they were rotated down it would boost everything up, or would that put too much stress on the existing springs? Do you add a secondary set above the ones on the stock leaf springs?

In regards to the torsion bars, I finally read a bunch of stuff how to (and some pics... I had no idea what you guys were talking about) but given the nature of my vehicle would it best to not max it out, and maybe raise it an inch or so? Would that be approx 4 rotations?

Never really thought of doing this as it's mostly a road truck (aside from some fishing spots and stuff) but since I need to replace the shocks anyway, why not..... speaking of which, if make these height adjustments, do I still go OEM stock size, or do I need to increase that?

Much thanks... if this is in the wrong place let me know (or mods, please move it to the correct one

also curious if there's a 4banger airbox mod
