I hope this question hasn't literally been worn out on here. If so, I apologize for the redundancy. I've used the "search" but not found a link to my needs. My 98 Frontier 4x4 has instrument issues. I've done some Google searches and determined that total instrument failure is common on the 98 and 99. All guages are not operating and my odometer reads 999,999. They all failed at once. I had hoped for a fuse or plug failure of some type but my research says that I need to replace the entire unit or have the old one rebuilt. Can any of you offer any suggestions outside of these two? I found one place that says they can rebuild it for $200+/-. Are there better options??

I bought mine from a family member. I'm advised that the temperature and fuel gauge "occasionally" malfunctioned off and on well before the entire unit went down. That started at about 250,000 miles. It completely quit at 270,000.
If I can't find a used one working properly, I think I'll have it rebuilt.

Not yet Chainsaw. You can bet that will happen before ordering or repairing my existing panel. Got bigger fish to fry at the moment with a carrier bearing and clutch issues. My intention is to get it rolling and depenable before I physically address some of the luxuries. Just trying to do a little homework before I get to it.
I can't figure out how to work on three different items at the same time. Its this job, you know? 8 to 10 hours of it everday seems to keep getting in the way! :)
