i have an unknown year and mileage motor, it looks like it was a replacement motor. only way of knowing i guess would be to look up the vin. but my carfax is expired.
it stopped running but looks like a timing chain on one of the heads is broken.

if anyone wants it ill sell for 750 shipped anywhere in the 48.
500 picked up.
or ill part out.

i havent gotten the motor out of the truck yet, each night i try something else comes up.

im more than willing to pull the front cover off and do an inspection but i would imagine people want a motor that isnt taken apart already.

let me know if you are interested in parts or the whole thing.

got it, and actual swap time was only about 2 days.
the only time i would say you need a second person is when you are dropping the new motor back in, it was really nice that i was able to guide it and set into place while my buddy lowered it for me.

side note, i was wrong on the mileage, and possibly the year. once i got the motor pulled it was pretty easy to see it had already been replaced at least once.

so i have no idea truly what year this motor is from or mileage.

i put up a could WTB thread on here and thenewx and was able to pick one up within a week for a decent price. the amount of people that are swapping vk motors on thenewx is growing and they want to unload their motors.

at the request of the interested party i pulled the motor down a little.
timing chain is intact, no intake valves look bent, the motor rotates (i did get it to fire and half idle before i pulled it)
if i had to take a stab, i would say loss of compression from rings? but thats just a guess.

i dont have the kit to do it, but either way to rebuild the motor it has to be tore down past where its at now. heads coming off and lower end likely being yanked too.
but if someone wants to mail me the kit ill totally use it hahaha.

You can order an OTC brand on ebay for $80 or a cheap one for $30.
