100% true, never use refrigerant with leak sealer. I refuse to hook up my manifold gauges to a car/truck in which the owner put in leak sealer.
And he is correct, you need manifold gauges, leak detector (sniffer), vacuum pump at the minimum.
A lot of the AC repairs that I do, the evaporator and/or thermal expansion valve ends up leaking. On the 2005+ Frontier, this would require the entire removal of the dash to get to the evaporator/tex valve.
