Ok so I've had my Frontier or awhile...it's getting freaking old with the whole turn the key to lock and unlock the truck. It's got power everything....but when I bought it I didn't get a key pad. Was I suppose to or could it be that it didn't have that option? Also what's the feedback on the Rogue keypad? I like the looks and function of that key. Would I just buy it and take it to a Nissan dealer for them to program it to work with my truck? How much will that run me?

Did you buy it new?

I thought that they came with keyless entry if you had the power lock option. You can buy on craigslist or ebay a key fob for dirt cheap (05-06 NISSAN FRONTIER EXTERRA PATH OEM KEY FOB REMOTE: eBay Motors (item 350349966299 end time Jun-03-10 07:56:06 PDT)). Programming is really simple and fast.

You could also swing by the dealer and ask them to find out if you are keyless compatible.
I bought my truck used from a dealer last January that did repairs to it because it had damage on the rear end and was totaled because the tips of the frame was bent. So I got it for a hell of a deal, $10.5k and it only had 50k miles on it. It's got power windows and power locks so I think it has the ability, I just think the person that had it before didn't include it for some odd reason. Next time I'm in the city I'll swing by the dealer and see what they've got to say about it. I work nights so I'll have to wait till my off day. Maybe they'll be open tomorrow since that'd be my next off day. Thanks for that link BTW, that's just what I was needing to get me by till I can decide if I really want to swing this: 2008 2009 2010 08 09 10 NISSAN ROGUE REMOTE KEY KEYLESS: eBay Motors (item 160431458171 end time Jun-04-10 10:30:00 PDT)

Remember early build 2005 SEs with power windows and power door locks did not come with remote door locks. I do not know how much of the vehicle is “pre-wired”; you may want to search some old threads to come up with the answer.

When i bought my 05 se, it had power doors and windows but no key pad.. i even asked the dealer when i was getting the oil changed if it was compatible, they said no... Im pretty sure i was browsing here and read that if it has power doors then it is programmed... so i ordered the ebay oem key fob, it was super easy to program, then there you have it.. factory keyless entry.

How do you program it? I figure I can swing $13 for a keypad and if it works then I may go with the Rogue one directly after. I'd just rather not have a $70 paper weight.

Ok so I've done some digging online and come to find out my truck does have the ability to have a keyless entry remote. I found out the easy way. Someone should make a thread and sticky it so people can know how to program their remotes and not have waste gas & pay the dealer to do it.

Here you go:
Nissan Key Fob Reprogramming Procedure Early Models

Simply get in the vehicle, shut the doors, lock the doors with the door switch...then insert the key 6 times into the ignition in under 10sec..if the hazard lights flash then you've got keyless entry!!!!

Looks like I know what I'm buying today. I'd really like the Rogue remote...but oh well....

The XE and SE only had the keyless entry if you ordered the Value truck Package. It came standard on the NISMO and LE models.
I'm really hoping that the remote I ordered works properly.....only $13 loss I guess if it doesn't.

And I thought I was the only one. I found out my 05 SE had power locks one day in the city waiting for my GF in a parking lot. Reading the manual, i noticed my locks locked when the doors were unlocked!! Perplexed, i thought maybe I hit the lock feature on the door. No chance, I was holding a book. So then it hits me -- another Nissan with the same code?? I scan the lot and notice a red Altima across from me, lady unloading her trunk. I put my book down to see wether this happens again when she locks her doors again. Sure enough, walking away from her car, she locks the doors and my car also locks up and honks, she looks at me wondering and I look at her hoping she doesnt realize what just happened. Next day bought a fob and programmed it the lot! I can't way wether I was more worried or happy!!!

LOL-

I click my key fob EMERGENCY ALERT button all the time (when not near my truck) and make Nissan car's horns honk away!!! LOL

I had a 4dr, hatchback, manual, blue 1990 Ford Escort, and one day came out of a WALMART, hopped into "IT" after using the door key to on-lock it, couldn't figure out why the seat was out of adjustment since I went into the store, but it started too. Then I realized it was "WAY TOO CLEAN" and not my (wife's) car -LOL! So, I got out and locked it- and found my "DIRTIER" car. The FORD dealer told me that they only make 10 versions of the keys, so every ten car's locks off the assembly line are the same - KEYED!

Thus, probably why remote key fobs work on different cars, only so many combinations before they repeat them, eh!
