Crutchfield told me I can use 4" speakers in the rear but, I have not removed my rear door panels yet but I was just wondering if you can put bigger then 4" speakers in the rear doors?

TIA

You'd have to custom fab a mount for 5 1/4" speakers to work. I actually bought 5 1/4's for the rear because, yeah, EVERY site/store says 5 1/4, but the previous owner of my truck put pioneer 4's in the rear, but they were mounted using what looked to me like the stock bracket which is this weird looking 3 screw bracket. The hole in the door is big enough, but keep in mind that my Infinity reference 4's with the big tweeters barely clear the grille in the door panel.

I'm debating whether to do an audio upgrade or nismo bilstein shocks. I'm leaning towards the audio.

So what size really fits in the rear? How hard would it be to make the 5 1/4 fit, and do 6 1/2s fit in the front doors?

6.5" are stock in the front. If you really want to get technical about it, I think the stock nissan mexican pioneers are 6.75", but nobody makes a 6.75" speaker. Buy 6.5" speakers and they should go right in. One of the four holes may be slightly off due to the tiny difference in size, but I made mine fit. The mount just bows in towards the door slightly, but it works great!

What's your budget? That will make all the difference.

I'd say 300 give or take. I want to redo the whole system, but I'll settle for 2 8 inch subs in the back or replacement speakers for the doors.

CDT Audio make a excellent 4". I use to have a pair in the front doors of my Landrover Discovery. 75wRMS powered by a Alpine F450 (can't remember excact model) and they hammered!

Massive magnet for there size of the suckers!

There's a big difference in adding 2 subs or replacing the door speakers. You need to decide what you really want to do long-term.

Adding subs and leaving the door speakers isn't going to improve the sound quality, and will leave you with a system with bass that overpowers the rest of the unamplified system. Replacing the door speakers will give you more clarity, but will leave the system sounding shallow.

I looked around, and I think you may be able to add subs and change the door speakers for around $400. I don't think it's a great solution, but it's doable..

Throw in $50 for amp wiring and speaker wire, etc.

I'm not really suggesting you rush out and buy all this exact stuff -- just showing something in the neighborhood of what you can do for that budget.
