army 5 ton wrecker truck.

in the 70s i ran a 5 ton wrecker truck. Army. way bigger than a 2 1/2 ton . my friend showed me how to run 100 PSI in the tires. the call out was 50. then he added 10 gal of gasoline to each 100 gal diesel. tank. it was way faster. but i wouldn't do on MY truck.

I was the 5 ton wrecker operator(mechanic) when I was in em the service.
The reason you could run gas with the diesel was because it was a ‘Multi fuel”.
They would run on av gas, diesel, kerosene, gas.
Not your typical diesel.
They don’t run well on solvent, though.
Took me forever to figure out the problem till I bled the injectors and smelled the fuel.
The wrecker and 2.5 trucks, you could take off in low range and pull up in the transfer case and get 10 wheel spin. Lol

Dont yall mean jp8? Oh wait, never mind, just noticed this was in the 70's. 90's grunt here and everything ran on jp8. Would love to have a H1 but we always had issues with the glow plugs.
Was the gas in the diesel trick similar to propane injection in the neverending quest for more powah? 😁
