George Washington National Forest on Saturday 3/30/2019

Anyone up for a day trip to GWNF on Saturday 3/30? I was thinking about trying to make it up to Flagpole Knob.
My vehicle is a completely stock 2018 SV CC SB 4x4, and I don't have much off-road experience. I'll be taking it very easy, and willing to retreat rather than damage my truck. It would be great if someone more experienced were there to help us noobs learn.
See Map 9 in the Motor Vehicle Use Map. The route would be to take highway 33 to 227A, past Switzer Dam, and on to 85A.
Who's up for it!?

Edit: Here's what we have so far...

Date: Saturday 3/30/2019 (weather depending)

As long as the weathers okay, I'm in. How about JayMarstel?

Why make it only good enough when you can double the budget and build it like NASA?

Sounds like fun to me . I'm interested in going. I did a quick Google map search and depending on what part of GWNP we meet at, it's about a 3-1/2 to 4 hr drive from my location.
I think I would drive down Friday for overnight stay so as to be ready & on time for Saturday meet. If campgrounds are open it will give me a chance to try out my Sport Truck Tent
weather permitting

Date: Saturday 3/30/2019 (weather depending)
People going: erturne, ArcticMark, RyanD1966
Meeting point: TBD (need to find a close gas station so we can fuel up)
Meeting time: TBD (10am?)
Destination: Flagpole Knob via 227A
Gear:
erturne: tow strap, hitch recovery point, 2 shackles, portable air compressor, 2T come-along
Food and beverages: TBD

I also have a HD tow strap, 2 recovery shackles, portable compressor, full tool kit ( as in hand tools / sockets ), two shovels, adze and sledgehammer; wood saw and hack saw, two plastic HD wheel ramps, tire plug kit and two 5 gallon Jerry cans ( prob won't need them ).
Food and beverages: TBD
Since JayMars lives right near me if we are heading down at roughly the same time, I would assume we convoy. I also have two hand-held consumer walkies, I dont have my HAM Tech license yet.

Equipment - Hi-Lift Jack, Hi-Lift ORX Kit, ARB Tred Pro set, Air Compressor, G.R.I.T. Tire deflator kit, Shovel, maul axe, Tire Plug kit, First-Aid Kit.
Also have a stealth mounted K-40 Complete front & rear system. Comes in handy on the highways, lol

Looks like we've got a good group going! I updated the post with some more details, including a proposed meeting point. Joe, I'm interested in checking out your stealth K-40 install. I swear almost every day on this forum I find something else I need to spend my money on! LOL

This will be a fun run. I'm looking forward to it.
I'm a "mild" off-roader; I'm not interested in hopping boulders, going knee deep in mud, or swimming my Frontier in 3' of rushing water. It's my daily driver and I do rely on it to drive to work, & run family errands.

PS - I completed another mod today. A AFE GT Momentum System install.
It ties to existing wheel well opening but also has a Front Ram Air Induction.
Engine has a beefy growl, no error codes, and fits perfectly.
I'm running it with Front Air Ram closed for daily driving; open on Friday/Saturday night cruising!

I drove on some mild forest service roads once right after I got my truck. That's the extent of my off-road experience. I have about 8.5k miles on my truck, and still rocking the stock tires. I'm all for a "tactical retreat" if necessary.
