I agree that most digital content is for the "younger ones" not me (the old fart). LOL I still have CD's and although I listen to XM mostly my CD's sound WAY better than XM or my digital stuff. My two cents worth. I don't have a Rockford Fosgate system so I can listen to music off my phone Jeeeeeeeezzz.

That said each to his or her own tastes. For me, keep the CD's for a few more years at least.

If they stop putting them in cars and trucks then that's gonna be a huge boost in sales for aftermarket cd players. that would be the first thing i did when i got a new car or truck if it didn't come with a cd player.

they should at least offer a cd changer as an accessory or something for people that still listen to cd's. they could at least do that.

the young people don't buy very many cars. they don't even have jobs yet. sure in the future that's all that we will use but i think they are trying to make the transition too soon. there's still many, many people 40 years and up that still listen to cd's on a regular basis. i know i do. besides i don't much like "new" music. my favorite songs are from the 80s and 90s and i have them on cd's. i didn't download them.

they stopped putting cd drives on laptops so that makes it impossible to rip your cd's to your phone. you have to go searching around to find an older computer that still has a cd drive on it. it's just something that's not needed. just keep putting cd players in cars and trucks.

i'm glad mine has one in it. i use it all the time.

heck my parent's still have records.

i would have tapes but someone stole them a long time ago so i never bought any more. i just started buying cd's. i still buy cd's now on amazon. they are cheap. you can get albums for $6-$12. i remember when a cd was $15-$20 back in the 90s.
That's totally opposite of my observations. I'm in my middle 50's and I haven't bought a CD in at least a decade and don't know anyone within a 25 year span in EITHER direction that still uses a CD... I think it's rare to find someone who does not have a smartphone and/or access to computers. Personally I think I'm behind the times as I still use XM and Pandora when so many other sources have come along. I think the CD is pretty close to being a thing of the past...

My old 2014 Jeep Cherokee didn't have one but it did have an option for a CD player in the center console.

I figured by now they would all be gone. Wonder if Nissan just didn't want to redesign a radio?

If you were willing, external CD drives for computers are very cheap, and lots of them just use USB to connect. Then, if this is the direction you wanted to go, you could rip all of your CDs to your phone.

I am an older gentleman (53) I cannot remember the last time I purchased or played a CD.
I have a 2012 with the auxiliary 3.5mm input jack built into the dashboard and the Rockford Fosgate stock stereo with the subwoofers.
I just industrial velcroed a 10" Samsung tablet over the top of my stock stereo and wifi tether off my phone to the tablet...I can split the screen with google maps and spotify and watch movies or youtube videos when parked off course.
Spotify sounds great.
