Very nice work and an inspiration to all KC owners

In reviewing the pictures I was wondering a few things.

- How did you attach the MDF to the back wall? I see what looks like screw holes so I'm guessing you used existing holes from when the panel was mounted.

- Did you have to silicone any through holes such as from the seatbelts?

- Have you noticed any difference in sound going from the stock stuff to the sprayed-behind- totally-awesome-carpeted-MDF-insert?

- How did you attach the bottom section? Did you screw to the floor, screw/angle bracket to the back wall or is it just sitting in place?

- In your last completed picture it looks like you have a 2x frame supporting the MDF "floor". Am I seeing things?

- How'd you make out with your dented bed?

Thanks,

There are plenty of threaded holes for which to attach the MDF, so yes, I just drilled holes and bolted it on.

there are no "though holes" that go to the outside, so no.

The only sound increase would seem to come from the more exposed vents to the outside (there to allow you to close your doors without increasing in-cabin pressure). I plan on covering them with a piece of the carpet to allow some air flow through them, instead of covering them completely with wood or something. Once I do this, I do not think it will be any louder than stock (there is a little more road noise now).

Currently it fits in soo tightly that even if I roll the truck, it wont move more than an inch or so, but there are several threaded holes on the 'hump' towards the rear, so it is very easy to bolt the rear of it down, to bolt down the front, I would need to make some sort of bracket or something, and maybe use the front seat mounting points.

That is the lip which supports the "doors" that are in the floor. Without them the door would just fall through. It is just some scrap wood I had lying around, it is just glued/screwed to the underside of the MDF top, and a MDF cross member that supports the top from underneath.

I was able to bend it back a little. It doesn't both me, as it really isn't noticeable, and it doesn't hurt anything, I just felt like a dumbass for doing it.

Clean install! Looks very professional. I really like the idea of the racks on the back wall.

thanks for the detailed write up on your project. i have been contemplating this for a while. i want to see if i could remove the back panel, jump seats, and fill it with mdf as you did. i want to somehow mount my 1yr. old sons car seat in the center so the bride and i could ride comfortably in our 05 kc.
one question comes to mind and i think you've already answered it above and that is, does the cabin noise increase w/the panel removed or has it decreased some? i realize the 2 door vents are a major contributor. i thought of using dynomat for the entire back of the cab to reduce some of the road noise.
