I did something very similar, but left the jack cover. I like your idea with the removable storage box.

Yep, thats pretty similar to what I am going for. I just decided to remove that whole rear piece because it created about 2" of dead space across the whole back wall, then about 4" of dead space where the jack bumps out.

Reminds me of my speaker box and tool box combo I had in my old '99 King Cab. Very cool.

Here's a pic of mine to throw out some other idea...

My old '94 hard body had a similar set up, except mine had the subs firing down. I had the box built so my rottweiler could ride on the top of the box but not hit the top of the cab with his head. (you should have seen the guy measuring my dog hahaha) Best part, just looking in the window you saw nothing of interest...so no one broke in.

Thanks for the compliments. It was a nice box and left me with a nice shelf to lay stuff on. It also easily came out when I needed to get to the jack.

OK, so its been almost a month since I started this thread, but I finally got around to finishing this mod after not touching it for a couple weeks.

Here are the pics:

In the 2nd pic you can see the vent that I still have yet to cover, but that is a 10minute job. I am just going to cut a strip of fabric the height of the back wall about 2.5" wide or so. It will cover the part of the stock plastic where you can see the back panel used to snap in, and be wide enough to cover the vent as well.

The little blue pieces you see, are the pull-taps for the doors.

Looks great and oem like. Real Clean. But paint those white racks like grey or black.
