so i bought a Garmin Nuvi 750 from techrondigital.com for $209. the whole time i'm thinking this isn't right, and two days later i get a call. its a guy telling me that my navi needs a memory card and he's willing to sell it to me for $119, after some haggling the final offer was $85, a free $50 carrying case and a 3 piece cleaning set...

i didn't go for the extras cause he was real pushy trying to get me to get this 2 Gb SD card, and when i said i already had a SD card, he told me that i needed this "ultra High Speed" one so that i don't have any lag... the card wasn't even a name brand. did a search for kingston 2 Gb sd cards and found them for like $10.

long story short, if you guys want that dash mounted Navigation setup but don't want to give thenismoshop $600 for the unit alone, you can go to techrondigital.com. but just don't let them try and con you into extra crap.

i didn't recieve it yet, and all the reviews i found on cnet were negative, but if i get it i won't care. and will let you guys know of any other problems.

Sounds like a scam place (didn't know it at the time) that I was tring to get a digital camera from. I waited over 4-5 weeks with no response and they had my CC # so I called and canceled it. Hope you do get it but there are a lot scam sites that try to sell fake stuff, european models and other stuff. Good luck.

Maps are cheaper and the only memory card you'll need is in your head.

you can get them on ebay for 250shipped or sometimes even less...

why did he say you need a memory card? all the maps so be preinstalled in the unit itself, unless you are trying to save other maps...

they wanted to sell me an overpriced piece of crap memory card because thats how they make there money. they told me i needed it and it would be cheaper in the long run so i can download new maps instead of sending garmin the whole unit.

sneaky bastards... i'm going to call tomorrow to see if they even shipped it yet, if not i'm canceling it.

It's a bait and switch scam. I had the same problem with photoconnection a few months back. Watch out for fraudulent charges. Also the stuff they're selling is "grey market" meaning it's not US stuff. Your directions will probably be in a different language along with possibly the unit itself not being in english. There was a thread a while back when I was dealing with them that had links to the scammers. They all work out of shady ghetto shops in new york. I would cancel if you can and watch your credit card like a hawk. I cancled my card after I cancled my order and moved my money around so they wouldn't be able to access anything. Sorry I don't have the time to look it up for you but do a search of my previous posts and you should find it. I believe it's titled "I ordered some Avic-D3's" Big time scam get out of it if you can!
