That market is becoming extremely crowded. I think within 6 months you'll see some serious price reductions as they all begin to cut each other's throats for market share. Then there will be some bodies along the side of the road (bankruptcies and people pulling out of the market) and consequent closeouts of hardware. I would not be in a big rush to buy.

Take a look at Buy.com for their refurbished models. I got a Magellan 3000T for 185 bucks and looks new.. Came with all the parts.

If you can find one the Alpine blackbird is a really great unit. I have one that I share with my wife-type. It has an SD card slot so you can load your mp3 onto it and play them with the FM tuner. Tons of Points of intrest, easy to use. And its kinda stylish.

There is a monthy fee if you use traffic updates on the garmin higher end units. They come with it free for 3 months to try out.

I purchased a Mio Digiwalker several months ago and it's been great! One of my best purchases. It's not a MP3 player and won't display pictures and doesn't have bluetooth. So it's missing all of the bells and whistles. Also, it doesn't actually say street names, like many other, more expensive units (but it does display street names). It just says "prepare to turn left in 100 yards" or "take second left." But if you don't need all that other stuff, it's a solid GPS unit for under 200$. I've really been pleased with it. Circuit City regularly has them on sale for 180.
