Pics of the antenna install?

I have one of those Midland 75 CBs. With an extenal antenna it is as good as any other CB. Don't bother using the rubber ducky antenna unless you're using it as a handheld with the battery pack, and you're using it away from the vehicle. Another advantage of the Midland is that there is no "box" to install. I believe the Cobra has a "box" that needs to be mounted somewhere.

Yeah, but that "box" is small and can be mounted just about anywhere (I mounted mine about the foot rest on the drivers side - hidden and out of the way). Both are good CB's. You will just have to decide which one works best for your situation and go with it.

Need CB advice...
Why should I go with a All-in-the-handset unit like the Cobra 75. I guess I just remember using the old base unit style. I don't know enough about the new CB's to know the benefits.
I'm also planning to use a long whip drilled into the metal KMA bumper that I have on order. Is this a bad idea that I should abandon in favor of a magnet on the roof? If that is the case, then I wonder if the CC has the small fresh air vent behind the drivers side rear seat.

As for the antenna you are using, that would be a good location to mount. But it also depends on what you want out of your set up. If you are going for max distance and performance then I would recommend mounting the antenna on the roof. The thing I like about my mag mount is that I can remove the steel whip in about 30 seconds when ever I need (like this weekend when I took a friend to the airport). With the antenna mounted on your bumper you will get the greatest distance across the hood in the direction of the most surface area of the hood, since this will become a ground plane for the antenna. That being said, if you are only using the CB for trail runs and communicating with other trucks on the trail, really anywhere would work for a antenna mount. But I do have to say that it is nice being able to reach out and touch some one that is nearly 8-10 miles away. hehe The CC has the fresh air vent that I was referring to. Check out my write up if you haven't seen it yet: CB Install Write-up

So I gave my wife a list of gift options for my upcoming birthday, with one of them being the midland 75 being sold from Target. A few days later I noticed a charge to Target.com for about $100. I guess I know what I'm getting from her. I hope some one else gets me the wireless backup camera and or the gamestop gift card. or even some lift components. The $500 T-max winch is still in the dream gift category.
