chill out loco boy, just try it out and if it still fails, you have all the right to snap case out to him. he's moving at the moment like he said and he's trying to put everything he has in it.
Your remedy of using RTV has already failed. What makes you think the paper gasket remedy will work? This is not what I was hoping to hear. Also, why would we have to send you the old gaskets? Why can't we just send you back the IMS that was not milled correctly to have it fixed?
X2. I realize, as a small business, you would probably go bankrupt having to re-mill 30some spacers, but I don't think a paper gasket is the solution.
If the groove is too small by 2 one-thousandths of an inch, wouldn't filing the sharp edges off create enough room for the gasket to expand into, preventing the shearing? Or even using a piece of sandpaper in the groove, a few stokes on each side of the groove will take .002" off.
I know you can't really recommend these methods, but I think they would be a better solution that a paper gasket; afterall, isn't the thickness of the paper gasket going to effectively make the IMS slightly thicker, changing the characteristics of the airflow?
its .020 not .002, and yes I think intake gasket material like I have used for years on the race car is more than sufficient for sealing. If itll seal a 1200hp nitrous fed big block chevy, itll handle our engine without issue. It comes in sheets from Mr Gasket and can be cut to fit whatever you need. The gb1 are .120 the factory upper plenum is .119-.123 and the gb3 was .100. This is why the orings looked over torqued...they were, without a proper width it let the orings bulge out of the channels instead of in it. While chamferring might have helped it would have still torn up the orings. Any tightening would have done this, regardless of how little.

im glad you are half a** making an attempt at fixing your products but why not do it right and say ship me the IMS back and i will fix them and send them back with new gaskets to. Sending people paper gaskets is not the right way of doing things although its alot better then saying o well put some rtv on it.

^^^^^^^ x2. completely agree with that post. i pm'd will asking for my money back we'll see what kinda response i get.
you guys want me to copy/paste my pm i sent to him??????? lets just say im not happy about this but im being civil about asking for my money back.
The channels are too small!!?? So we paid for 60.00 gaskets that failed from a design flaw and now we get a 2.00 paper gasket? I want my 60.00 for the Nissan gaskets refunded then. If it is found that the IMS is at fault then I want the 60.00 to cover my non-faulty gaskets that got chewed up becuase of a flaw that was overlooked, and non tested since they would have been not needed if we could just use a paper gasket. Nothing less than what I fully expected.
