im not fond of using silicone to seal the ims with the manifold, whos to say the silicone wont fail?
The high temp silicon will work perfect for this application. Grand Cherokee's transmission pans are only sealed using this stuff. THere is no gasket at all on them. If its good enough for a liquid tight seal on a transmission, it will definitely work for this application. I work on cars for a living and use this all the time. It works!

FUTURE MODS: Wouldn't you like to know!
well the reason im not too fond of slopping some of this gasket maker on there is for one reason. lets say i have to take the truck in for some sort of warranty issue with the engine. the tech at the shop sees this mess of **** on the intake maniford. what is he going to say/think? he will laugh, tell the service manager.......and there goes my warranty claim. im on my own.
now, i dont even know if this has happened to mine. i havent had time to tear it apart again. but if it is, can i ship it back and get my money back? i really dont want to have to deal with this problem (if i have it)
I guess I will bite the bullet and take mine off and see what is happening with mine. The only problem is I will be out of town until next Sunday the 13th. Yesterday I also noticed on my TBS that the little tab on the gasket has broken off, and now my truck seems to be idling at like 875rpm as before the TBS and even when I first installed the TBS it was idling about 675ish.

Would there be any way that you could give us the specs to do the sheering ourselves? it is quite uncomforting to know that you will not fix the part, but only make a temporary solution that could inturn void warranty...
anyone who buys a mod for a vehicle knows they are running the risk of voiding warranty on a part (for intakes, it's the MAF... for exhaust, it's the O2 sensors) this is nothing new here. as for the argument at hand, i see where will's coming from and where the consumer's coming from. i don't want to throw my .02 in on that but i can say RTV can successfully be used as a gasket on the intake if it is given the right time to cure and the right product is used for the application (as ben said above)
