did you have your side braket supported? i am wondering if the combination of the sharp un chamfered edge and the weight of the manifold on the one side wore back and forth on them - truely no fault of the gasket -[/quot
YOU MEAN THE PLENUM BRACKET THAT SHOULD STILL AT LEAST BE PINCHED DOWN BECAUSE THE WHOLES DONT LINE UP NOW CAUSE IMS?

By now, you will have figured out that I know a thing or two about polymers and how they are manufactured into gaskets. In my very first post on this bizzare incident, I urged the powers to be (Will) to investigate a very strange melting of a polymeric gasket. This was ignored and things got ugly. But now there is a light that seems to point to the truth.
The answer is in the above picture. All the gaskets are packaged in a labeled bag. Each label has a part number. Trace the part number and see if it is right for the application. This is not novel, companies do it every day.
Will, on his part should have kept a list of all materials sent out to his customers. It's called a bill of materials. I doubt this happened. Now he has no way to know what happened. But he has a receipt from gasket manufactuerers. This receipt must have part numbers and he can use this to trace to the truth.
And please, no more talk about a sharp edge causing Up's problem. His gasket melted. If you want to get to the truth, use science and inductive reasoning, not incredulous psuedo-science.
Customers should not due this. It is Will's responsibility as he knows the most about the product. He saw Up's picture. How come he did not pick up on the wrong color? To the extent that Will has abdicated this responsibility, it allowed this Board to speculate, guess, insinuate, and so on. This is bad for business.
The ball is in Will's court, he has the part numbers to trace to the truth.
as you can see here - this is an image taken right from nissan part menu called fast - you can see the part number that is on the detailed description, and then in the menu list, what the part number changes to in nissans ordering system - if you look at the gaskets, you will see it is same exact thing....
we are only using factory gaskets, we never have used anything other than a factory gasket -
also, the gaskets did not melt - stop thinking thats the case here - they are silicone based gaskets, and can withstand over 700 degrees as even while it's crude, we were able to put the gasket in a 500 degree temp for over 30 minutes, and when pulled out, it was still intact and no issues other then discoloring.
no one has had to replace the gaskets in plenum right? cause im sure someone had more than 30k on motor before install right?
I bought a set in case the orings in the upper plenum need to be changed, I believe i was around 28-30k at the time. Iam over 36k now, they where fine, I reuse orings all the time in Jag intakes as long as theyre not cut, crushed, pinched, or distorted. Very seldom, and theyre $250 a set upper and lower, so I try to save customers money if possible and only have to replace them every now and then. And yes its caught me once or twice, but I know as soon as I start the engine if theres a vacuum leak. And I pull intakes all the time for spark plugs, hoses, oil leaks on cam covers etc.
