Well it looks like I have to hope for the best, take a chance, and pseudo randomly choose an inspection station later this week. I think I'll go to a less than nice neighborhood (e.g. where I work) with the assumption that they may be less regulated and hope my car doesn't get stolen. Wait a minute, this is a Yaris so who would want to steal it anyway? haha

Again, if anyone out there has any recommendations of places to take it just sent me a pm. Thanks for all the info.

Drive around and look for a shop that says it does md state inspections and has a bunch of fixed up,tinted, cars outfront. Talk to someone who works there and ask if the windows will fail you in an inspections, if they yes tell them its bs and why should you have it removed then have to reinstall it because the sun hurts your eyes when you drive or something. My friend had some things overlooked by doing that. I know this way you have to pay for the inspection but it will be cheaper than removing and re-doing the tint.

The job is done...no tint on the Yaris and I muttered f-bombs the whole time while taking it off. One thing I will say is the MVA/MSP has put the fear of god with inspection stations. I took off all the tint on the side and rear windows, which was illegal, but left the legal 5 inch strip on the top of the windshield. Let me stress that it was LEGAL. Went back to get my cert saying my car passed and the mechanic made me rip off my LEGAL strip on the windshield before handing over the paperwork. What an a$$.

I guess I learned my lesson, always look into how stringent state inspections are before tinting. And with my state inspection certificate in hand it is time for me to schedule an appointment to re-tint.
