I totally agree. I could have easily afforded to buy a truck for a great deal more money ($40-$50K). Why pay more for something that is not really much better. At the time, the tacoma had a longer bed and had higher stance. The bed and the higher stance was not worth $6K to me. I think I made the smarter choice. Btw, back in 2005-2006, the Tundra was selling for only a little more than the Frontier because of the huge rebates. If I could have found a 4x4 that a dealer was willing to deal on, I probably would have bought it (Tundra Crew Cab or Extended Cab). Unfortunately, the dealers only had deals on 2 wheel drives. Like I said in previous posts, I have a cabin in the mountains where there is snow and I tow a boat. A 4x4 is almost a must.

Primarily because Dakotas, Colorados/Canyons, Sport Tracs ALL suck, and Toyota thinks the Tacoma has gold-plated body panels.

Frontier is a poor man's Tacoma

Totally disagree. I had a 01 Tacoma and it was not what it was cracked up to be. I am fortunate to be at a point in my life where I can afford to buy any truck I want. I looked at them all and chose the Frontier based on features, build quality, performance and (not to be ignored) value.

Frontier is a thinking mans Tacoma IMHO.

I bought my Frontier for many reasons. Some of which are:

It was much less $$ then the Toyota.
I got a better trade in value on my car.
It has a stronger power-train the the other.
It has a sun roof....... The other does not.

because the wife wanted an altima, instead of her X, so i had to trade my car also so we could still haul stuff for home improvement projects.

I liked the looks over Toyota, and as previously mentioned Toyota had a "take it or leave it" attitude and I left. Not sorry that I did.
