Very loud poping sound and now no brakes

On my way home tonight from work while driving I heard a very loud pop sound and when I I tried to pull over to check out it I noticed I had no brakes. I coasted home and stopped by bumping into my mail box so I'm safe.Im going to get it fixed sat,but I just wondering what everybody thought the problem is.ive been ripped off before in the past from shops thanks for the help

Loud pop, no brakes sounds like maybe a flex line. With todays split master cylinders you shouldn't lose all braking. If a front line went you would still have back brakes, but they aren't nearly as effective as the fronts. I had the front to rear line blow on an Exploder and the pedal went almost to the floor but I still had effective front braking, it was just a little unnerving
If the master cylinder blew, it may be an internal seal/O ring and you may not see any visible signs. Check for brake fluid splashed around and if you see any on painted surfaces wash it off right away, that stuff will strip the paint clean off.
Needless to say don't drive any further.

Had a guy on here some time this year that blew a stainless braided line, he lost all brake pressure. The EBD block didn't stop anything.. Does the MC have any fluid in it? Sounds like some sort of line in the brakeing system broke for sure..

Could you have not used the parking brake to stop? Instead of hitting the mailbox

Did it pop while you were pressing on the brakes?

Does the emergency brake still work?

No, it popped while he was just driving along. When he wanted to stop to investigate, he found out he had no brakes. It's a very strange occurrence for that to happen while driving. Interested in knowing what caused the pop and loss of brakes.

No the emergency brake doesn't work I tried that. When I pulled it nothing. As for the brakes if pressed the pedal all the way to the floor there was slight slowing down but it would not stop me. After I have it fixed sat I'll report back what it was.

LOL, there is no way in hell someone is gonna be able to diag this over the intervebs...

Someone is going to have to open the hood or get under it.

I'll stick around, this should be good.
