Finally got my TPMS system repaired. It took 3 trips to the Dealer to get it fixed. The first time the just reset everything, the second time they reset everything, but documented where each sesor (tire location) was. Third time they replaced one tire sensor, The indication was a low battery. The vehicle was made in 8/06 and the sensor went out in 4/07 hope that was not an indication of things to come. It was warranty work, but the price charged Nissan was $141.00, that could be a little pricey after 36,000 miles

My TPMS lit this morning for the first time and I immediately thought I'd joined the TPMS defect club. Then I reconsidered, pulled over and found a nail in a rear tire. It'll be interesting to see if the lamp goes dark when I get the tire repaired.

Now I need to find a tire shop that won't ruin my alloys or the TPMS transmitter while doing the patch. I think stick on weights are needed too if they dismount the tire.

When I changed the tire (first time on my truck) I was surprised that the alloys are noticably lighter than the steel rim spare. I was also happy to find that Nissan had torqued the lugs to spec at the factory and that I didn't need a gorilla to work them loose.

Very cool very cool -- the tire store patched my tire, I put it back on my truck and within three minutes, my TPMS lamp went dark. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones with TPMS so far. Mine works as advertised.

my TPMS is BS

Hey everyone. I've got an 05 LE with 28K on it. I live in San Diego so I've had no climate related TPMS problems. In fact the only problem I have had is my TPMS obviously doesn't work. I just got a flat a couple weeks ago. Picked up a nail, heard the clicking of something in the tire on pavement, and then air escaping my tire at a rapid rate. No buzzer, no light, just a flat tire. I had a slow leak in a tire previous to this and the TPMS never went off that time either. Anyone have a problem with the TPMS not working when it's supposed to?

I took mine to the dealership today for oil and TPMS. The dealer said that the recieving unit for all of the sensors was not responding to the inputs from the computer. They are replacing the unit as soon as I can get it in. Anyone else heard of this? I'll post replies when mine is done.

My TPMS light came on the other day, just the light with no buzzer. I was close to home, after driving 50 miles from work air temp shouldn't have been a factor, so I carefully drove there and inspected all the tires. All the pressures were good. When I restarted the truck the next day the light went out and hasn't been back on since. My TPMS has been working fine so far, alerting me to a pending blowout and a slow, nail induced, leak. I've had a couple of cold weather false trips but other than that nothing.

Tire Pressure Fix

I have the Ultimate fix. Nitrogen..... I race cars, and we all fill our tires with nitrogen because it does not contract and expand like air.

You must remove ALL the air in the tire, and replace it with nitrogen. You can get a bottle and regulator pretty cheap but then you own it for life. They come with 2500psi, and will last you for years and years.

Also most Costcos fill their customers tires with nitrogen also. Mainly in areas where the weather is so extreme like in the northwest.

I think this would be the end to this problem??

furthermore, when you buy aftermarket wheels and tires, you can transfer the sensors to most new wheels. in fact many dealerships and wheel shops will transfer them for you in the name of customer service.

lastly, THE SPARE TIRE DOES NOT HAVE A SENSOR. even if it DID have one in it, it would not be read by the computer.

[/rant]

Another example of the dumbing-down of America. We sticky this bit of information since there are people who take their Frontiers to the dealer because the TPMS light is illuminated? Let them go! Maybe these poeple will begin to think and learn something. Then, afterwards they can donate some cash to their dealer's cash drawer.

My rant!

My TPMS light has come on 2 more times. Again both times without the audible alarm. Turning the truck off then on again clears the light off.
Looks like I might be making a trip to the stealership.
