I have (2) sets of stock wheels, both w/the TPMS. The wheels that came on my truck have never had a problem. The second set (winter set) have given me TPMS problems as soon as the switch was made (the light came on and never went out). Is there something that needs to be reset when changing wheels since they have a different set of sensors?

you have to take it to the dealer and have them reset the sensors in the wheels you have on your truck now..

My rant!
OK, taking your BRAND NEW TRUCK to the dealership for things goin wrong is not DUMB. If you have a problem with it you shouldn't have to figure it out on your own. That's why they have a service department. So before you "rant" about something, maybe think about it a little bit. And warranty work doesn't cost a dime.

Does any one know if the dealership can actually "turn off" the sensors and light? Im getting new wheels and tires next week and I might not transfer my sensors if I can get them turned off.

I would like to know if you can totally disable the TPMS all together. I've never had a
vehicle with this and I know about tires because that's what I did for 20 yrs. Built them for BFGoodrich. I don't need an idiot light to tell me my tires are low....
Had anyone disabled this or is this something the dealer has to do.
Can I clear it with my OBD reader or is this something totally separate?
Mine has been on from the day I bought it about 2 weeks ago. I aired the tires up all the way to 40psi and its still on.... I would have carried it right back but I live in another city from where I got it, and it is a pia to just take it back...
Any help ?

You cannot disable it or turn the light off. You have to live with it or put a piece of tape over it to cover it.

Question Tpms

My truck is almost out of warranty and every once in awhile the TPMS light will go crazy and flash for about a minute and then it goes off, stock wheels and tires. Anyone else have this issue?

only TPMS problem I have is that the nuts holding them on cooroded and when we tried taking them off,3 of them snapped off so now, with three of them in my center console, my light is on. I think I need a 35psi balloon to put these 3 in so that the light will go off.

LOL, at first I thought, hey that might even work ... the balloon idea that is.
But no, I don't think so. I believe the sensors use pizeo-crystal technology to generate a small electrical current that runs the sensor.
The sensor is a dumb device that only triggers a threshold alert, if pressure drops below a certain level, alert the computer.
The computer then lights up the dashboard idiot light.
After airing up the tires you have to drive for a while. This will energize the sensors which will eventually realize that pressures are good.
Now the sensors will not be sending a low pressure alert message to the computer, so the light should go out.

As to the TPMS sensor nut, it's a special aluminum nut that has a part number and costs $2.50 each. I just bought 4 for my new rims.
I wonder if I should use anti-seize when I install the sensors onto the rims?

I would do something if you live where they salt the roads anyway. Still trying to set up a time to have 3 new ones installed, then I have to go get them programmed (dealer said they have to be in the tire to be programmed).

I had that happen to me last summer. I was driving down the interstate on the South side of KC,MO at about 80mph and all of the sudden my light started going off. It freaked me the F out. I pulled off on the next exit ramp and as soon as I stopped the light shut off. Never happened again.
