Thumbs up Toyota anyone? Perhaps we can quite worrying about GM and Nissan!

Maybe now we can quit worrying...

I hope. I just don't see anything positive in associating the Nissan name with GM. I know Nissan has super-smart people figuring this stuff out, but GM just blows IMHO.

+1. I hope Nissan doesn't go through with this alliance. Nissan's doing quite well--slowly but surely, there's no need no be associated Cobalts, Malibus, Impalas, and dare I say, even Corvettes no matter how awesome Vettes are.

The Vette would be one of the most positive things from an association I would think, but hey, I don't want Nissan associated with GM either. They already have good Halo cars like the Z and then again when the new Skyline GTR comes....

let them have it! i hope toyota takes the bait because i had all intentions of buying more nissan vehicles in the future and a GM merge would make me shop elsewhere.

The jury is out on this one for me. I'll just have to sit back and see what comes of it.

Unlike some of you for me Nissan can certainly use some help in some areas. While I have
liked all 3 of my trucks, I have not been all that satisfied with the Nissan cars I have owned.

The 1978 Datsun 810 was not very comfortable and the 1990 Maxima was even worse. The Maxima was a very nice looking car, but the ride sucked.

I have been in some comfortable GM cars and Nissan could
certainly stand some improvement in this area. If Nissan does not improve the ride considerably my wife will be driving another Toyota when we replace her Solara.

but now you are taking it to a different level.

Nissan's have (at least as long as I can remember) have been sporty vehicles, being that NVH levels can be higher, same goes with comfort.

if that is what you are in a car for by all means grab a gm...

Nissans have always been a dynamic drive, almost every one that I have driven has brought a smile to my face! If you notice, luxury is not a moniker that nissan trys to tout! it is usualy speed, agility, ability.

so now you are asking Nissan to make boreing to drive cars (like the vast majority of gm vehicles IMO).

unless it has a price tag of 80~90k you arent really going to have both.

so at that point you are compairing two different animals.

I am not making fun of your tastes in anything...

just stating that I think you are asking a car company to completely change it's ways...

I for one, do not want to see nissan make a wallowing land yacht. that would be too out of it's character.

even the infinity line is more sports oriented, trying to align itself with bmw's (which are fairly tightly sprung, for the most part).

and as far as I am concerned, toyota can have gm.

in reality, Toyota makes a better partner for gm, as they both typicaly make boreing to drive cars.

I am waiting for the first person to say "Are you saying that the supra, and the vette are boreing"

NO! but that is ONE model in an entire line-up other wise really boreing cars. and for most that isn't bad... for me it is.

Nissan cars are fun to drive! Check my ave. I autox that sentra on a regular basis and consistently beat gm., vettes included. However I'm unsure on how I should feel about the merger. Who knows as long as they have NISMO its all good.

Okiescot, the new maxima and altima have a really luxurious ride, which also being sporty.

GM and toyota have always had an alliance, my father use to work with toyota and toyota would build the cars and put teh GM logo on them.

my mom's got a newer altima and i agree w/ gfronty, it's sporty yet completely comfortable for a long haul, no it's not perfect, our sunroof rattles from time to time, but it's the nicest car we've ever had and it's only had one repair in 4 years to a door handle latch. if i were to get one i'd want the v6 tho. the brand new altima's that are coming out this year are supposed to be the end-all be-all of nissan's so keep those solara'd eyes peeled
