Angry Those with aftermarket Wheels !!!

I bought 17" MB Motoring Gunner 6 because I heard that MB was one of the only companies that fit without modification. Well, to make a long story short, I took them to my local Goodyear and the guy went to back out and the inside of the rim was hitting the brake caliper. I told him to grind it down so it doesn't rub and he did, but there is like enough room to fit maybe a toothpick if that. Should I get some 1/4" wheel spacers, grind it down some more or leave it be? Oh yeah, and there are some scratches, that is why I don't take my truck anywhere to have work done !! Damn Damn .......

Yeah I have 16" MB Predators, and 17" MB 72s and both fit fine; I've seen several trucks on this site w/ Gunners as well. I agree, I think they got you the wrong wheels somehow.

Well even if they are, they are on there now and can't return them, so what to do? It really makes me nervous that there is virtually no space, but it is not rubbing right now. I think I am going to take the wheels off and grind them down some more. Plus I had the brakes painted Red and now they are a shinny bare metal color. Let me tell you... that is the worst sound I could hear when you buy now wheels. It's always something, but it wouldn't be fun if it was stock !!

you shouldn't worry. its their problem. you ordered the wheels from them in order to be sure they fit and they did not. they make a refund or get the correct wheels.

Yah, but they will tell you that when you found out that they hit the caliper is when you should have called them. Not after you already ground down the rim.

I didn't grind down the rim, we shaved down on the brake caliper where it was hitting. Either way.... I don't feel like dealing with all the B.S.

Ahh My bad... I'm pretty wheel stupid. Although working in sales, I know that if we made a mistake like this, we are usually willing to make it as easy as possible to correct. If you call them up you may be able to have them pre-ship you a new set and then give you a waybill to ship the others back. It might not be that bad, but I understand where you are comming from.

never a good idea to grind the caliper, it decrease their ability to disapate heat quickly. My friend did that on his 77 ford 250(wanted to put 16" s on it instead of 16.5") and he always had a problem with pedal fade going down long hills after that.
